Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I'm pretty good at picking out grammar and spelling mistakes. I usually 'speed read' things, so I might miss one or two, but I think I'm pretty accurate overall. If you have a lot of spelling mistakes/grammar mistakes, expect me to grumble about it a little, but I'll fix it anyways. br /br / I've Beta Read (edited) several times now. From what it seems, it'll take anywhere up to a few hours, to a day or two, for me to send it back. I will graduate very soon, to where, remains to be seen. So my editing schedule will change, hopefully for the better. br / br / For expectations, I don't expect regular updates, or even very fast ones. I adjust rapidly to most updating schedules, as long as it doesn't conflict with my own. Not that I have one... But anyways, I do, however, expect you at least to attempt to self correct very obvious spelling/grammar/punctuation mistakes before sending it to me. I am not biased on what I edit. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I work well with both First and Third POV, and have no personal preference. I tend to write most of my stories in Third POV, and I do RP in First, so I am rather versatile. I excel on fighting scenes, interaction between protagonist and antagonist, and particularly like those angst filled bits. br /br / I love characterization. I cannot stand it if a character is OOC in my opinion - I will approach you with a comment on it, but most likely will not correct it until you give me permission. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I'm blunt, a honey-tipped thorn, if you will. I dislike sugar-coating, but will shower praise as I see fit. I'm not very good with heavy romantic interaction - I am young, in both ways, if you will. I tend to avoid awkward moments, although I may laugh about it later. |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I prefer stories in the action/adventure genre, although I am good at editing and writing Hurt/Comfort, Friendship, and Family. I can work will all genres, however. I prefer fighting scenes; don't get me wrong. I'm not a violent person at heart. br /br / Sci-fi and futuristic are also preferred. I am expanding my horizons, as so to put it. I am willing to do OC stories, as I find them easy and rather flexible to work with. |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
Mary Sues and Gary Stus are some of the first things that come to mind. Smut is another. No, I will not edit or even read any smut related fanfictions. If you have smut in your story, please warn me of that particular chapter. I suggest that you shuffle chapters like that to someone else older. I'd like to stay innocent and in the dark about that, thank you very much. br /br / Hm... Yaoi, Yuri and Incest are others. I can do crack, however awkward it is to write. It's rather awkward for me to write this, in fact... I do have my limitations though. Mkay? Mkay. We'll get along fine, I'm sure. |
