As a beta reader I would first and foremost look carefully at syntax and grammar, spelling and overall flow of the story. I believe that frequent grammatical issues will make an interesting story nearly unreadable, and that it is one of the most important facets of having a well-written story. I will also critique characterization or plot and offer suggestions on how to make it more believable, interesting or consistent. The only major expectation I have is that a cursory spell-check has been done.

I tend to be a very technical writer and excel at increasing the clarity of a story. I'm good at correcting grammar, syntax, spelling and flow of sentence structure. I'm also good at descriptions, decreasing repetitive language, finding plot holes or timeline discrepancies.

I will offer constructive criticism (not bashing or unhelpful advice), but I will not lie and say something is good if it isn't. If you are looking for someone to just give a pat on the back, I'm probably not for you.

I'll read just about everything, though I prefer to remain in Fandoms that I know, such as Twilight, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Vampire Diaries, or anything related to Jane Austen.

I'm not really interested in Anime stories or stories that are more fluff driven than plot driven.
