As a beta-reader and a person, I'm someone who dislikes writing bios about myself. So let's just skip straight to the expectations. Anyone who is interested in having me beta-read should first read the rest of my profile to make certain I sound like I might be a good fit for your needs. Then send me a message with a summary of your story, a list of all the major characters and pairings, and approximate story length (or your best guess if it's a multi-chapter story still in progress). I generally have a fairly quick turn-around time, a few days or so, though that is obviously going to depend on how long what you send me to beta-read is and how much work it needs.

I'm good at keeping everyone in character both through dialogue and internal monologues. I can usually help rework scenes if the emotional impact is not totally there, or if the characters' relationships feel unrealistic or forced. Also I know how to use a semicolon; so there's that.

I'm not a hugely visually imaginative person, so long descriptions of the way things look - while a perfectly valid writing choice - are going to bore me, and I'm not going to be much help with them. (Though it's technically not allowed on this site, it also bears mentioning that I don't do porn.)

I'm very character-driven as a writer, so I enjoy working on stories with a strong emphasis on character. Obviously I've also listed my preferences through the system here, though if there's something you'd be interested in having me beta-read that isn't covered by what I've checked, feel free to ask.

I'm pretty particular about the pairings I like, and more importantly don't like. If I personally dislike any of the pairings prominently featured in your story, I'm not going to beta read it, as I wouldn't be able to do a fair job of it. As I’ve said, character is very important to me, so I don’t do well with stories where characters are wildly OOC, unless you are specifically looking for help getting them back IC or there is a compelling in-story reason for it. No character bashing. I'm also pretty picky about the quality of the writing I work on an a basic spelling and grammar level. I have no problem with pointing out typos here and there or catching the occasional comma splice, but if you're misspelling a full third of the words and can't be bothered with things like basic capitalization, then that's far more work than I want to put in. I do not have any upper limit for length, but I'm not interested in betaing any one shot shorter than one thousand words, or any multi-chapter story where the *average* chapter length is less than two thousand.
