I have decided to become a beta reader because I feel that it can both help the writer of the story I am reading for as well as myself in my own writing. I am currently a college student studying english. Which means I am taking daily grammer and writing classes. I have edited for my college's literary magazine as well as my high school newspaper, and I have worked in my college helping to edit and coach several of my classmates work. I will look at each and every work of fiction objectively and unbiasedly. I also don't believe in giving criticism in a rude way, and I ask that if you ask me to be your beta reader that you will not be rude to me if I say something about your story that you don't want to hear. I come to beta reading with the beliefs that my college professors gave me. I want you to have sucess in your story and I believe that by working together we can achieve that. br /br /br /

I also ask that you be patient with me. I am a college student as well as work so it may take some time. But I promise that if you contact with me you will get a response that day. Please don't be surprised if I ask alot of questions. I feel that to truly be a good beta reader one must understand the story and the author's intent.

In the area of strength I excel at grammar. I am also fairly talented in spoting areas where the writer may have meant something else but it came off a different way. In my own writing I believe I am very talented in imagry. I also pride myself on thinking outside the box in my own stories. I am very dedicated if I see something that I am not sure about such as a grammar problem etc. I will research and even email my english professors (always keeping the author's identity confidental of course) until I find the solution.

My weaknesses in beta reading are that sometimess I get ahead of myself in reading and I may actually skip a word or two and sometimes this can cause me to miss something. I also am slightly dislexic. So I sometimes have to read a story several times to spot everything with in it. This goes for my own writing as well. In my own writing I can sometimes make characters too perfect and thus lead to Mary Sues which I really work hard to avoid. I also have a weakness for long sentences. I have written paragraph long sentences before and have to work really hard to make sure I break them up properly.

I am really not picky in my preferences. I love literature in all of its forms and love helping others. I do have more knowledge of some stories than others. But feel free to ask me for any story. If I don't know it then do the required research i.e watch the movie, or play, or read the book if I must. I am open to all opportunities.
