Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Think of me as your personal reviewer except better. Because, after my feedback, your story will be even better. My goal is to make sure you publish a work that you can be proud of when you come back to it years later. There's nothing worse than rereading old works and feeling embarrassed over your literary choices or finding nasty reviews. Therefore, to try and limit these problems, I will be blunt when critiquing your work but not mean. I prefer reading as much of a piece at one time to get the feel for it. Then I work small sections (less than 3k) at a time, combing through them meticulously. Grammar and spelling issues are easily dealt with this way, and I can also track character and plot development. Depending on the complexity, length, or state of your work, editing through and commenting may take the whole week or just a few hours. You are the author, and if I think some bit of your work should be done differently, I'm not going to push it as long as we discuss why you made that choice. Communication is key, and talking through it will help you adjust your story. (If a character seems out of character, and it turns out you didn't convey a certain part well enough to explain it, you'd want to know eight?) |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm good at purple prose and overwriting (they go securely hand in hand). Personally, I think it is much easier pruning a 50k piece down to 10k than the other way around. Similarly, with a shorter work (or one that doesn't say enough and convey its meaning), I can bounce ideas off to help fill in gaps and add more text. Because of that, I can help you close one section of your fic and lead it smoothly to the next one. If you happen to be stuck writing the same scene and finding no way to advance the plot, I'm your girl. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Time control. Grammar to some extent. Repeating the same way I describe something by accident.More so, I lose interest easily, and although I will give your fic as much effort as possible, sometimes I can't help you if I don't "feel it". |

Major angst, unhappy endings, self harm, incest, rape, gore, bestiality. Basically anything morally questionable.Also, I don't like OC fics. |
