Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I have been a fanfic fan for years, and FINALLY now that I'm done with college, I have time to get back into the worlds here!br /br /br / br /br / br / I just graduated with a degree in literature from an undisclosed Northeastern university ( hint: common denominators are F. Scott Fitzgerald and Jimmy Stewart) and am currently a journalist. Doing all-news, only-news, is sucking my soul dry, and I miss fiction, I miss imagining and playing around in other worlds, and I just love that a forum like this exists! br /br / br / br /br / br / Other languages/ otras lenguas/autre langue/ altre lingue/: español, francais, e italiano |

My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I'm meticulous, and this means I can take a while on getting back with edits. Also, I've heard from college friends that I can be too harsh and that I treat everything I edit as a super-intense literary dissection, so sorry in advance for tearing something apart and quite possibly missing the point!br /br /br / br /br / br / First-person stories typically annoy me, and generally it just takes a lot for me to read the story for its worth and give it its due attention. However, I can get over that- it just takes a good, solid story./br / br / br /br / br / Also- I tend to do edits in a stream-of-consciousness style, so I may harp on missing plot holes that are revealed later on in the chapter/story |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I want to edit clever stories that remain (mostly) within canon- or at least if they diverge, I prefer that the divergence is well-thought out and planned. In general, I prefer longer story-arcs, but I'll do a one-shot too!br /br /br / br /br / br / Worlds I'm familiar with:br /br / br / br /br / br / Disney, HP, Doctor Who, Star Wars, HTTYD Princess Bride, most classic novels, most fantasy-fiction, dystopian and Sci-Fi books (though I do not feel familiar enough with ASOIAF to beta at the moment) |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
Sexually and violently graphic fics (unless the scenes serve a clear, non-gratuitious purpose). |
