Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I'd be happy to edit and critique fantasy and sci-fi stories. I'm familiar with most book fandoms. I have experience editing my mother's novels (Maggie Anton). However, I have full time job and three kids which means I don't have tons of spare time. It might take me a week or more to edit a story, depending on how long it is. Also, If I'm not familiar with the fandom, I probably will not take the job. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I have a good skills with grammar but am a poor speller. I can critique plot and try to give advise on techniques such as foreshadowing and hooks. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Although I have read hundreds of books, I don't have any professional writing experience. Also, my spelling is pretty terrible. |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I'm happy to read graphic/mature stories. I mostly enjoy sci-fi and fantasy genres. |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
If I am not familiar with the fandom, I'll turn down the story. Also, if it is too long, I won't have time to read it all. |
