Beta Description
Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I'm kind of new here, but I've been selected for writing competitions and gone for writing courses before, so I'm not a newbie to writing.br /br / I created a beta account because I'd like to help others with their stories, but I'm not the best, though I'll try to offer the best advice I can give.br / br / I'm not harsh when I criticise your work. I try to put whatever I say in a constructive manner and make sure I point out the pros as well as the cons, so that you'll know what to improve on and what you're doing right. Though I can't say that I'm the Supreme Judge of what's right in writing, of course :Pbr / br / For now I'm only going to beta for 39 Clues since I'm the most familiar with these series. I mean, I'm pretty familiar with the PJO series too, but so far my stories for the series hasn't been going too well. I prefer beta-ing for series/books that I'm (kind of) confident in. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Unless I'm in a rush (or I accidentally make a typo), my grammar is pretty strong and I hardly make mistakes. It's easy for me to pick out and correct mistakes, especially if I'm scanning for them.br /br / My vocabulary is pretty wide but if all else fails I have a dictionary and a thesaurus B) (XD LOL)br / br / I think of plots pretty easily (unless I have writer's block) since my mind has this weird way of connecting random stuff together and generating weird ideas that can actually fit, sometimes. br / br / For me, poems are pretty easy to write since I find it easy to come up with rhyming words and to make the lines fit whatever rhythm the poem is following.br / br / For me, cliffhangers are easy to write too. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Meh.br /br / I don't really do romance. If I do write romance, it's mostly pretty subtle. I wouldn't be the right person for you to ask on writing it, but I read a lot so I can give you advice from a reader's perspective. Did that make sensebr / br / Ehh... I also think my characters can tend to be OOC if the series are not very familiar with me. |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
Adventure stories are nice to read. I can't say if I'm any good at them since I haven't written a lot, but since adventure stories interest me more I'll probably be more helpful.br /br / I like fantasy too. I've read a lot of mythical stories and all that, so I should be able to help you get the feel right.br / br / I don't really mind other genres too, of course. |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
I'd rather not read stories that are too "mushy" or too violent, thanks. I don't mind some of it, though, I guess.br /br / I can't stand stories with too many grammar/spelling errors or stories with lame plots (but I wouldn't say your story is lame, don't worry). I like the stories to be able to keep the reader's interest. |
