As a beta-reader, I would look over a piece first to correct any technical mistakes, and then move on to plot and characterization, if I'm capable. Hopefully, I'll be able to work with you on whatever level you needed me to: a quick read-through to check for kinks in flow, or a complete revision, or advice on how to proceed. Just ask, and I'll do my best to help.

My strength is editing for grammatical errors: maintaining parallel sentence structure, correcting punctuation and spelling, etc. If I know a story well enough, I'm also good at assuming characters and planning out plot, if necessary.

I get lazy in keeping up with my own stories, so I tend to never start what I finish. I may say to myself, "I'll edit that chapter for her over the weekend!" and then forget to do it amidst all my homework. Pester me. I'll do it if you remind me that I'm inadvertently being a brat by making you wait. br /

I'm also not very good at adding detail where detail is needed, or telling you that part of what you've is nonessential to the main plotline. (Mostly, because I haven't kept up with this large story running around in your mind, and I'm not your mind, so I don't know what really should or shouldn't go somewhere.)

I like art, and I like thought. I'd prefer to work on pieces that are more mature and thought-out, if I can. I like puzzles and mysteries, and I love to be a part of them. However, we've all had those days where all we can spout is silliness and I'll happily look it over for you. I'm more adept at realistic stories, the kind that could possibly happen to someone someday (even if chances are slim).

I'd rather not work on fantasy/sci-fi stories, simply because I don't do well with them. In a galaxy far, far away, the Queen got shot by some sort of doom-ray, because she couldn't figure out her butt from her elbow in this new land. br /

I'd also rather not work on stories that you haven't put much effort into, either. If what you were working on took fifteen minutes, go back and try again; this beta-reading profile took me an hour, and that's writing about me. Your characters deserve more respect than that. Look it over yourself first.
