Beta Description
Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I am not taking on a lot of requests, so PM me if you are interested. Also, if you would like my assistance in helping you edit your story, I ask a few things:

1. Reviewing Bribie (by WiddleWombat) or chapter 18 of The Ultimate Betrayal (by EddiesGirlx Lizzy). I have been WiddleWombat's beta for Bribie from the start. Chapter two had an uploading error, in other words, the errors in that chapter were not there after it was beta'd. I only edited chapter 18 for EddiesGirlx Lizzy. OR You can simply PM them and ask their opinion about my helping Beta their stories.

2. If you are serious, don't give out my e-mail address as I want to keep it as a beta only address. Therefore, if someone is SERIOUSLY interested in having me beta something for them, they will need to PM me here.

3. I edit everything in Microsoft Word, so please be sure to have at least Microsoft Office 2007 version. Even if you send it in another format, it will be returned in Microsoft Word format.

4. I prefer to edit the chapter itself, make the necessary changes WITHOUT changing a lot of your story. It will still be your story and YOUR words, I will just edit based on spelling/grammar type errors. I will post comments as necessary.

5. My basic request for being a beta for someone, is to take my notes (comments) seriously and to take your time in making changes/updates because I REALLY pride myself in whatever I do. Therefore, when I suggest changes (based on spelling, or grammar) that were not updated, I feel it reflects poorly on me. And don't be surprised if I PM you because I noticed something that may have been missed either by myself or you. No, I am not flawless; even I miss things on occasion, but I do expect you to make certain changes that will NOT change your story (it will only modify the spelling or grammar errors)! ;)

6. If you make any changes after I sent you the edited version and before you post the chapter, please make an Author Note stating this.

FINALLY - The creativity is all the writer. I would be the "ghost" or "phantom" assisting the author to look utterly genius (no I am not perfect and am not conceded, that's just my dry humor)! I do my best to keep the voice of the writer and only change/suggest based on spelling and grammar, with suggestions, not requirements. However, should you choose to ignore my suggestions, I request you make an Author Note stating this. I only beta based on what you have written. I look for grammatical or spelling and do NOT change the story you have written. I may make a suggestion, or two when something needs to be clarified, or doesn't quite seem to fit. I will often put a question or another "possibility" into a comment, but will NEVER change your story itself if it isn't related to grammar/spelling errors. The story ideas are all yours!

The only changes I request to be made are based on spelling or grammatical errors.

*** I base these requests on the fact that ***

- Most readers appreciate a story that flows smoothly.

- Most readers appreciate a story that is clear and precise.

- Most readers appreciate a story with few grammatical or spelling related errors.

- Most readers tend to appreciate a story more when it is nearly error free and easy to read/understand.

*Based on these reasons, most readers are willing to wait the necessary time it takes, therefore, remember these points when you are anxious to post a chapter.

* I am not a perfect proofreader, but I DID grow up with a mother who was ALL about the grammar, which means I know a bit about punctuation as well. Though my punctuation is not perfect, I do my best.

* I often find myself "critiquing" stories as I read them, wishing I could "fix" this issue, or that issue.

* I lean more towards being a perfectionist. My perfectionist type personality makes me STRIVE to TRY making something flawless (though I am VERY much aware no one is perfect or flawless).

* I will do everything in my power to read through and make changes (suggest changes) within a maximum of 14 days, but most likely less (depending on the size of the chapter).

Now, if you are still interested in me being a Beta for you, let me know.

My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I suppose my strength would have to be the grammar and how well a sentence or paragraph flows. I also find myself noticing spelling errors often. The misuse of the words is a frustration for me. Therefore, I look for words with two completely different words with different meanings being used incorrectly, such as: "quiet" (aka - shhhh) being written as "quite" (aka - considerable extent); "realize" (aka - fully aware) being written as "realise" (Side Note, if this is how your country spells "realize", you will need to let me know in advance); "to, too, two"; incorrect spelling of possessive nouns (Cullens vs. Cullen's; Edward's, not Edwards); "now" (aka - this instant) and "know" (aka - aware of a truth or practical understanding of something); and more.

Sometimes an author will breakup words that should be one word or merging two words into one. Such as 'some one' should be "someone" and 'helunged' should be "he lunged". I have also found MANY times authors will misuse the words 'nod' (nodding, nodded) and 'shake' (shaking, shook) when referring to the movement of one's head. 'Nodding' (Nod or Nodded) is an up and down movement of the head acknowledging, or to say "yes". Whereas, 'Shaking' (Shake or Shook) is a side to side movement of the head denying, or to say "no".

My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
My vocabulary isn't stellar, but I DO know how (and do this OFTEN) to look up words and their meaning. I have also been known to use a Thesaurus. ;) I do not know the "correct" rules when it comes to "professional" novels (paragraphing, etc.), but I do have a pretty good idea for the "general", or "non-professional" side.
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I currently prefer to beta stories for the Twilight category. I don't have a problem with rape, abuse, violence, or angst type stories. I enjoy more Non-Cannon with Bella (Jasper, Emmett, Peter, Paul, Alec, Demitri, etc.) type stories that are AU (Alternate Universe). But have also enjoyed stories featuring Bella & Jacob, or AH (All Human). I like stories with Bella & Edward, but tend NOT to read a lot of these simply because I like the original Twilight Series by Stephanie Meyer. Although I have read several and enjoyed them, I do NOT prefer the canon stories.
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
I am not really a fan of the same sex (slash/femslash), poly, or hardcore (main focus on) BDSM stories. Reading them is one thing, but I prefer not to Beta these stories. *BTW - Since betaing (on the side), I have found that I do tend to change the story ONLY from a "past-tense" type story to a "present-tense" type story. For both stories mentioned above, the author wrote in the past tense and their stories are now present tense; neither seemed to mind. Therefore, I will say that I prefer stories written in the present tense.
