Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
As a lover of fan fiction, I would love to be able to help authors improve their work. Too often do I find a really brilliant concept, only for it to be marred by grammatical and spelling errors, making it almost unreadable...As an editor, I find that I can be a bit too picky for some people, and as a person who is rather thick-skinned, I dish out the criticism as much as I can take it. But I will always try to highlight the positive in a person's writing to make sure that it isn't I am a major canon freak, and so I will always try to make sure that whatever character you are writing is true to the original, unless it is purposely different. Currently, my obsession is everything to do with the Dragon Age universe. I am very well-versed on the lore, particularly Elvhen (Solavellan is my OTP, Cullen/Inquisitor second). |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
When editing, I am rather picky with spelling errors, and also character development. I always want to know why things happen, and for what purpose. So if that is not given directly through the text, then I will try to make sure that it is included. I'm also good at making a story flow better, and spotting any plot holes that arise. I also have a lot of knowledge of music (classical and otherwise), and most history. :) |

I find that my main weakness is grammar. I can edit it, but I can make some mistakes. I also have a tendency to go off on tangents, so I apologise if I start to do that when editing your work. Just tell me if I am, and I'll try to reword my criticism. :P |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
Personally, I don't like reading or editing fan fiction of things that I have no prior knowledge of, so I'd say that in terms of categories, I love Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Lord of the Rings, Disney, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Serenity, Doctor Horrible's Sing A Long Blog, Starkid, Kingdom Hearts, Mass Effect, Dragon Age and Doctor WhoI also find that fluff (romance), and angst seem to be my forte in terms of realistic writing. My favourite stuff is always HP, especially Romione, Fremione, Tomione, Hinny and Jily. :) 3 Darkfics are always fun, and I love a well-written and realist friendship. :) |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
I cannot stand Twilight, and I would prefer no lemons (limes may be accepted if they are written well, and innuendos are fine), especially nothing graphic. I also don't accept taboo (e.g. pedophilia, incest, etc.). |
