Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I love to read fantasy and anything that's grounded in the fantasy world. But I also love the stories that are rooted in reality. Something that could really happen. I like to get into the story so I like to read long ones with multiple chapters that are also long. If I betaread for you, I'll love to read a long and intricate story that you've put your heart into. I want it to be good and I'll tell you, gently, if it's not. I'll do my best to constructively criticize your work and tell you what I think, and hopefully you'll agree, would make it better. I'd be happy to help anyone who wants a betareader to read their material. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I've been told I'm really good at painting a picture for readers. My professors told me that my use of all five sense to describe scenes was my strength. I think I'm fairly good at describing things in intricate detail. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I suck at spelling. I can't spell to save my life. I find that after I publish a chapter or story, I'll look over it and I find a mistake. My biggest issue is leaving off letters or changing the structure of a sentence and forgetting part of the old one and it doesn't make sense when it's published. I typically have to Google words to make sure I spell them right and that I'm using them in the right context. |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I like fantasy and science fiction. Mystery is pretty good and I really like a story that's taken from the fantasy world and put into reality. I like long stories with long chapters. The only category's I'll read from are books, movies, and TV shows. |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
I don't like to read stories that have a lower than a T rating. I've personally found that most of my favorites are T or M. I prefer multi-chapter stories but am not opposed to one-shots. I like long stories that I can get into that don't pull any punches. |
