Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I am a big fan of making a story flow smoothly. If you jump around a lot, it can confuse your readers and cause some to stop reading. That's something I wouldn't wish on any writer. In an effort to help, I'd like to offer my assistance to the effort of polishing up stories so they read easily and enjoyably. Of course, nobody's perfect. I'm not saying I can make any work of fiction sound one-hundred percent better. However, I will try my best to give positive, constructive criticism and suggestions that are useful. That being said, I am doing this of my own free will, so please don't demand that I read your story. I'll more than likely be happy to help if you just ask nicely. :) |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I am very particular with grammar and spelling. I also tend to notice if someone is acting out of character, provided I'm familiar with the series. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
If something is vaguely detailed, or has multiple meanings, I may suggest unnecessary edits. If this is the case, I ask that you please correct me on the matter and explain. After all, if I'm going to beta your story, I want to make sure I understand what's going on. :) |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I have a preference for fluffy, suspenseful, and mystery fan fiction. However, I must confess that my all-time favorite stories to both read and right are 'sick fics.' I also prefer to, naturally, read stories with which I'm familiar. I just don't feel comfortable giving advice on a universe I know nothing about. That being said, I can still offer spelling and grammar help, but that's about it. |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
I refuse to beta: Lemons, yaoi, yuri, and anything with overly graphic violence or gore. However, as long as it isn't too gruesome, I'm fine with it. Sorry, but to each their own, you know? |
