Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Well, what you would expect from me is a very good job! I'll do anything in any category! First, what I'd do is correct any grammar mistakes I see. Let me tell you, I'm not perfect at grammar or if places need revision, but I'll try my best! It's my duty as a beta reader to try to revise your work to the best of my abilities. (Which are pretty good, maybe a little better than most people.) Also I'll revise your work, obviously. If something sounds better read in italics, or capitalized, OR in bold, I'm sure to catch it! I might even think of a better title, or a title if it's unnamed. Send you story in a DocX, or through my email, and I'll send it back beta'd in a DocX or whatever you saved it as. If you don't like what I did, you can always bring your story to another beta reader, but I think you'll like my job, you won't be disappointed! |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Hmmm... I think I'm good at making things funny. If you don't have a funny bone, and you want to make a comedy, I can revise it to something funny! Also, I can make a genre to its extreme. Let's say a sentence like this: "He kissed her gently." I can make it like this: "He kissed her so passionately, their eyes closed, not caring what's around them, the only thing that mattered where the couple for the loving moment." Sounded a bit more romantic, right? And maybe one more thing, if you're not the creative type and can't completely think about how an OC or monster/alien or a place should be in personality/appearance, I can help figure it out, and see if you like them/it! Just leave a note at the bottom of the story and I'll figure it out! Plot holes that I notice would be destroyed, but won't ruin your plot. I'll help you in any way possible! |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Urk. Weaknesses. Not that I have many. ) I can't fix EVERYTHING (nobody's perfect) if I don't notice a mistake somewhere, but if you send a story to me and then later you're saying "Oh, man! I forgot to change that!" or something to that effect, just email me about the mistake and if I already fixed it, well, I fixed it, but if I didn't then I would thank you after I finish beta reading your story. ...that's basically it. And I'm being honest! |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
Basically, I'll do anything of any genre. But I'll be harder for me if there's a fandom that I never saw/read/played before. Here's some fandoms that I like: Katekyo Hitman Reborn!, One Piece, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, Mario games, Link games, Kirby games, Luigi's Mansion (you heard that right; I loved that game.), Kuroshitsuji, Lucky Star, 1/2 Prince(Haven't read it in awhile though), Ouran High School Host Club(Haven't read in awhile either), Homestuck, Harry Potter, and more, maybe, but can't think of that "more" right now. I'm in for AUs, OCs, OOCs, yaoi (malexmale), canon, het (malexfemale), and people-from-our-world-going-into-fandom type stories. These I love to read. |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
I'd rather not have crossovers, or yuri (femalexfemale). I don't know why for crossovers, I guess I just don't like that mix up. I might like it if it's 2 fandoms that I know well enough, but if it's one I know, one I don't know, or if they're both fandoms I don't know, I can't really beta them. Please tell me which fandoms they belong to in a note at the bottom of the story. (Or just email me with the story, either way!) I'm a girl, so I don't like yuri. I just plain don't like it. Just avoid sending me stories with those things in it, and if I know the fandom I'll beta your story! |
