Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Well, something about me, huh? You could describe me as a guy who likes good, well written, mid-paced stories with a hint of humor along with a Kudzu plot. Also, I like when a Xanatos gambit is revealed both to the characters and to the reader. Seriously, I love plots like that.As a beta reader, I like reading stories that at least has an Anti hero in it. Maybe because, well, I feel the story would gain an interesting turn with one of those. Keep in mind, an EMO character AND an Anti hero are NOT the same. I just can't understand why people can't diferenciate the two... As for the style, a little of Rule of Funny and Rule of Cool (as I said before) is the meat I need to stay on the story. Much better when the story "grows the beard" and it is revealed that every single special detail as a RELEVANCE to the actual plot. Something ignored in one chapter could be the MacGuffin in the next. Or an extra is revealed to be a relative of the Big Bad...some stuff like that. I firmly believe that Dark is not Evil, so you may notice that I have a preference for the hero (or anti hero, the latter is better) to have dark powers, which he/she uses for good. Bonus points if Dark is Edgy, revealing that his powers manifest in claws, swords, etc.Finally, I expect for the people that require of my services to be well spoken, good mannered and have a good outlook of the world. Only that. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm more of a mind screwer writer or I tend to focus more on action sequences. Well, part of it may be because I'm a fan of SamJaz's works, which wrote several wonders like Persona 3: Fairly English Story and Pokemon: Lelouch of the rebellion (don't worry. It's better than it sounds. Basically, I'm good with anything related with Rule of Cool and Crazy Awesome. (And yes, I also have visited TVTropes and read Shinji and Warhammer40k) |

Angst...oh god. Angst. Seriously, who invented that crap? Seriously, I really suck at making a depressing backstory for a character. If you ask me to write a somewhat dark and angsty character, don't call me. (Anti heroes are other subject) |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
And Action/Adventure/Suspense story will be good for my brain. Being influenced by Death Note and Liar Game, I seriouly love seeing the reactions of the characters when they find themselves part of a Xanatos Gambit (A.K.A.: Xanatos Sucker). But even better if that said character reveals in that same instant he was manipulating EVERYONE else, putting him in the top of the Thirty Xanatos Pileup, and watching as the Manipulative Bastard shits bricks. Hehehe... Also, if the fic in question is Touhou, Shin Megami Tensei or Blazblue related, message me. I'll be glad to be your beta reader. |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
The excessive use of Fluff (A.K.A.: WAFF) Now, don't get me wrong. I love when a little of romance is introduced in the story, but only on key points. If the romance plot is introduced IN THE BEGGINING OF THE FIC, well, you screwed it up. No offence. But that doesn't mean you could give subtle hints of the relationship. That's OK on my book. I mean, the romance plot is a powerful one, but only if used correctly. The best moment you could start the romance plot is just before the final arc, because after that, you could focus on the end of the story with the two lovebirds. Also, if your main character is a God Mode Sue, kill yourself. EXCEPT that, if in your story, the villains are also God Mode Sue + 1, then your story will be awesome, 100% certain. I mean...just look at Fairly English Story... |
