Hello there! I'm LatestFromTheAsylum, A.K.A "Lafta" and I'm here for your betaing services! My style, you ask? I regularly read through like I would if I had randomly found it on FanFiction at first, then I work back through it a second time and pick out pieces that either where of great interest ("I liked what you did here! Like that part...") or something I think you could work at, or have gone a different direction with (This one is probably more common. Example: "Okay, this part here rushes by to fast,try to get more detailed like..." or "Show don't tell- try to incorporate the scenery with the action naturally so it doesn't get in the way of the action. Like...") |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Plot, style, pacing, and character. These are the things that I really stand out to me- so I tend to be a good critic when it comes to these traits of storytelling. I WILL get in depth and nit-pick, but I always try to keep my beta-ing constructive and positive. I'm just not afraid to break out the tough-love. - |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Spelling and grammar. I can catch glaring errors, sure, but if your looking for a grammar Natzi to review your work, move on to the next beta profile. I'm not the beta your looking for. *Attempts Jedi mind hand gesture thingy and fails* |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I'm up for anything, though I do love me a good AU or Angst. But that is by no means the only things that I will read, I welcome any and all genres... except any including polka music... polka music is unacceptable. P.S: I'm on a particularly strong Homestuck kick, so if you've got HS fic I'm your bro. |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
To be quite honest It's hard to offend me. Just so long as it's within good taste (as in it if it includes it, it treats sex and violence in a mature fashion not "they were walking down the street and suddenly ALLY SEX WOAH LOLZ D00D LOOK OUT 4 HOBOZ THEY STAB U"), and it's not hateful in nature (as in fics putting racisim or homophobia in a good light). |
