As a beta-reader, I'm more like a sounding board, almost. I'm not just an editor. I'm here to help if you're stuck somewhere, or if your characters have gone quiet and aren't flowing well. When I beta, I look first at plot. If you have holes or you need help in figuring out where to go, then I'll be more than willing to help. Next comes grammar. I'm a bit of a stickler for it, and I'll emphasize it terribly if it needs work. Spelling is a last check. The only thing I ask of you if you come to me is that you utilize spell check FIRST.
