I prefer to beta in the few fandoms where I am familiar with the source material. That said, grammar, spelling, usage, and characterization are my focus. If you send me a piece of writing, expect a schoolteacher-style markup for spelling and grammar errors along with separate notes from me. Notes would cover any general trend in the errors I see, and characterization issues. I respect an author's individual writing style or voice, just as I would want mine respected. Yet that doesn't excuse any of us from the standard rules of English grammar.

Spelling, grammar, usage (this includes so-called "Yank-wanking" for you non-Americans writing in U.S.-based fandoms), and characterization. The latter is the reason I will only beta for writers in fandoms I'm familiar with.

Plot help. My ideas and your ideas are not the same, and at the end of the day, the story is yours. I would hope that you as the author have a general (not precise, necessarily, just general is fine by me) idea of where your story is going. I'm not in the business of giving advice on whether A/B, A/C, or A/D should end up together. I'm also the first to admit that I'm not all-knowing about grammar rules. I'm human, and I make mistakes.

I will do 'shipper fic, gen fic, whatever. Just nothing either too fluffy or too explicitly violent.

Not that here on FF.net the story would be sexually explicit, but I don't do incest. Period. I'm also still a bit on the fence about more explicit slash stories. Femmeslash is totally cool with me, though.
