Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I've been writing since around the age of 10 in various styles, ranging from small works of my own, but mostly through RPing. Through the latter, I've gained a rather critical eye when it comes to how things should sound/look, a pretty bad case of "needing to have near perfect grammar and sentence structure", and a love of writing in general. Whether it be characters of my own, or variations of characters from games, books, shows, etc, I usually love both writing and reading about them.
Although not a perfect writer myself, I still strive to create works of writing that not only will I enjoy reading later on, but that others will like too. I expect the people who's stories I beta-read to have the same, or at least similar motives. This being said, I'm quite strict when it comes to grammar, spelling, and punctuation - and if something sounds out of place in my writing, I'd want people to point it out, so I assume you'd want me to point it out too (so I will anyways).

My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Description.
I love it, love the use of it, and oh goodness.. variety of words. Yes, I like both of these things, and try to incorporate all of these in my works (and LOVE seeing them used too). I'm pretty good when it comes to spelling and grammar, as I tend to re-read everything I do before posting, so I can usually pick out mistakes as such fairly easily.
When it comes to generala feel/flow of the writing, I'm pretty good and pinpointing the mistakes made, or praising how well things transition. Perhaps not in my writing, but I'm quite quick to pick it out in others. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I'm a little weak when it comes to the flow of my writing.. If its short pieces (this comes from my experience as an RPer), then yes, I'm quite good, but when it comes to longer things, sometimes my own writing lags a little bit, and looses momentum. Also, sometimes if I find a piece lagging, or anything as such, I tend to skip over things, merely skimming instead of actually reading, until I come to a part that I might actually like. |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I enjoy reading fast-paced adventure, fics seeping in drama and mystery, or the ever loved romance. So really, I can read anything, as long as its .. not terrible. Haha, that doesn't really help much, I suppose, but.. to be honest, I don't have anything that really pops out to me as "MUST READ THIS"..

Unless its a story based off of a game, comic, etc. who's characters I adore, or have a general knowledge or awareness of.
However, the list is quite long, so just assume I'll read what you throw at me, story/type/genre wise. |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
Ah, THIS I can elaborate on.Rating.
When I personally go out looking for things to read, they often fall under the rating of either T, or M. Anything less than that, unless practically throbbing with funny wit, general humor, or pure-awesome, will severely sap my momentum. And even then, I find the M rated fics to be much more in-depth and developed, when compared to the T's/etc. |
