Just kidding; as a beta I prefer to have a working knowledge of the direction a story is going in before beginning the process. I find that, as an author myself, I can have a tendency to 'ramble' whilst writing and often need another voice to tell me to 'cut it out, dammit, and get back on track!' Preferably I'd like to build a friendship with whoever I beta for as not only is the process more rewarding but you tend to want a story to succeed more if you have a personal connection to it! I would like to have a relationship with an author whereby I can read the chapter and then have an open discussion about any amendments, queries or suggestions - the author has absolute last call on anything (after all, it's their story under their name) but someone who genuinely wants to discuss and plot their work to get the best possible edit is ideal!

I am educated to degree level and have spent most of my academic life writing essays - I know how to make a document flow! My strengths lie in attention to detail, speed reading, OCD on spelling and grammar (but in a nice, fluffy way...not acute anger), and I'd like to think a wide vocabulary! I have been working since I was 13 years old and have experience in the following areas: dressmaking, retail, waitressing (boy - do I have stories about that!), cooking and now the educational sector (as I have worked and lived in a boarding school, and am now working in a Grammar school - my old school!). My previous employment also required that I help out during prep-time for the children in my house (homework for those non-boarding, free people!); as my girls are at the age of all of their GCSE and A-Level exams this help mostly consists of proofreading their work and tutoring in certain subjects and in essay writing...I'd much rather be beta-ing fanfics! I love reading and writing and can usually pick out a good story, or at least one with the potential, within a very short amount of time; my drive to sort out my own writing (New Years Resolution #1 2015) will hopefully see me become more and more active on the site in terms of my own publishing and I would love to get into the fold of authors who regularly publish and update good works.

Giving negative criticism - really, I hate it. I will always try my best to find away to give any notes in a manner that does not insult or hurt the author I am working with. I find that working with someone I respect and enjoy talking to does negate this worry eventually as you develop a friendship, however initially I may find it difficult - not to say that I won't tell you how I feel...

At the moment I read a lot of Twilight, Hunger Games and Arrow Fanfiction - I'm a sucker for romance so that is where my true interest lies. I enjoy a funny, romantic and well-written story; with regards to Twilight, I read all-human, BellaxEdward stories (generally those where an author is just using the initial characters and has their own plot entirely). Hunger Games fanfiction - alternative universe is my poison; anything where Katniss and Peeta are in an entirely different setting! Arrow...Olicty shipper right here! I heart OliverxFelicity and Dig-humour all the way; you write that? Yes please!

Slash - I'm sorry, I can handle M rating but I'm going to go all terribly British and say that Slash fics do not appeal and I honestly wouldn't know where to start! If you like them great! I just have no clue!
