When I read I read with a critical eye. While I might not always catch my mistakes I can catch other peoples. Writing isn't just a hobby of mine, it's a craft that I've fine-tuned over the years with numerous edges to shave off. Due to a school that had a shoddy English program I had to teach myself how to write. When I started writing I never knew a thing about Mary-Sues, character development, or over-stated messages concerning political and religious world views. I am here to say that I'm not here to tell you how to write your character or your plot. That's not my job, no offense to anyone who thinks it is. I'm here to help make your work presentable to the public eye. This means that, no matter what you write I won't judge you. If your main character is the worse sort of mary-sue, I will make suggestions for fine tuning, but I will not tell you to change your character. Because here's the thing: characterization is a learning process. You can't construct the perfect character on your first go. You can't construct the perfect character even if I tell you how to. A mary-sue litmus test is complete and total shit and adds nothing to the learning process. It only gives you a guideline: a guideline that the great fiction authors broke numerous times in the past. br /br /br /

So, I'm here to make your journey as a writer easier by being an actual editor. I will tell you what is grammatically incorrect (trust that I will probably have my grandfather's old grammar book open while doing so), I will tell you what needs more description, and I will carefully point out inconsistencies in your plot. Other than that, you're on your own. The plot is your own. The characters are yours. What religious or non-religious views are your own can be expressed in your fiction without my judgement. Let me warn you, others will judge, but that makes it all the more fun. After all, if they don't like it and feel the need to get angry at you for daring to make an attempt then that's their problem. No one's perfect and I won't expect you to be. Why? Because I, myself, am as far from the perfect fanfiction writer. br /br /

I have this saying:br /br /

A good fanfiction writer keeps to the canon. A good author makes shit up as they go along. The people who add, the people who experiment, the people who write crossovers (heaven forbid) are the ones who will make brilliant /br /

And it is hard to gain any sort of recognition here on . I should know. None of my stories are canon. I even had an MST done on one that no longer exists that I just found out about. I think I still have it somewhere in my files, but note that I haven't looked at the thing in four years. It happens, people grow, shape, and change. Our character become better characters. The one character I use(d) on this site has morphed from a bratty teenager to a college student with a bit of a brain (but still not much). She grew as much as I did, and I'm proud of her despite how much work I feel like she still needs. br /br /

I want to offer this to any potential beta reader. If you are willing to have me, I will expect nothing in return. You don't even have to credit me! It's fanfiction for heaven's sake! I'm here as a second/third/fourth opinion. All you need to do is keep an open mind and not panic when you see a page full of red. Don't consider that failure consider that a vote of my confidence in your ability to write an incredible story! br /br /

Thank you for taking the time to read this and good luck in whatever or whoever you decide. Just send me the link to your stories anyway! I'd love to read them.
