As a beta reader, I feel like I am very critical mostly with grammar and spelling. I feel that when an author does not take a few seconds to use spell check or to read over their stories, their heart is not into the story. Also, the format greatly impacts a story as well. these small, nit picky things might seem like busywork, but they are just as important as the content of the story. Anyone who wants me to beta read their stories should understand that I will point out things like these, but in a nice way. I want to make each story the best it can be, not ridicule or put anyone down. br /br /br /

I feel like I would be a very picky beta reader in regards to grammar and spelling, but I would be very fair when it comes to content. My personal motto is that life experiences make the best stories, and the more you experience the better. So, rest assured that I will tell you if there is some scene that seems out of place or if it seems odd in some way.br /br /

I am actually just starting to beta read, so I do not have a distinct style yet, however I feel like my style would be mostly focused on the construction rather than on the storyline. If anyone wants me to proofread, I am fine with that. Also, I think that the first chapter is the most important, because that is what draws the reader in. I will be very critical of the first chapter, but after that I will not be as critical. In addition, like I said, things like font, italics, and bold text can make a story easier to read or harder to read. I will definitely be looking for these types of thing in any story I beta read. br /br /

Wow, I feel like I am going into a job interview! Its a little nerve wracking! One last piece of information for everyone. I am very into science, so if your story has any biology-related information in it, I would like to beta read it. I do have a slight scientific background, but I would be very interested to help if anyone needs information on animals or how the human body works. I will be looking for scientific facts, and if you have a piece of info wrong that is important to the story, I will try and help you fix it. That being said, I will not flaunt around that I am a scientist, because I am not... yet (hopefully!). In addition, if the piece of information is not important, since lets face it, this is a fiction site, then no worries, it is not that important. br /br /

I have the confidence to say I am a nice person, so please do not be worried about me being mean. I actually will try to point out various things in the nicest way possible. I will not ignore spelling or grammar, but I definitely will not be harsh or critical about anything. So, I'll definitely be full of optimism, since let's face it, I am an optimist.
