Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
My writing skills have been brought up over the years from harsh lessons on grammar, wording and spelling. Basically, I'm a total grammar freak. If a sentence does not make sense, or has no REAL meaning, I fix it. If spelling is an issue, I fix it. You'll find I can help push you forward, but never back. I'll let you do the work, I'll let you, as the original writer, do whatever he or she wants. I only intervene at certain parts. If you need help figuring out a plot, I'll help to the very best of my ability. All I ask for, is an idea of your plot. Only then can I begin to figure out your aim, and help work around the edges. If simple mistakes are written in paragraphs, I may really get a little over board, but all in all I can be a good reader. If you don't like an idea, or my say, that is okay. It's your story, what you say goes. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I look for good grammar, sentence structure, wording, and spelling. My best ability is looking around and beyond the sentence, in order to make it simple for the "other" reader(s). I can help make an emotion come out, so the story is as real Or fake as possible.I am very good with poetry, I've been in several poetry contests, and have won several. My Writing ability can go such a distance, I can get carried away. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Humor. Does it say enough? I can be a funny gal, but when it comes to writing humor, I can be a weak link. I can write humor, it's just not satisfactory sometimes. Horror I'm also a little weak on, but gore, yeah I can write the gore. I can give good feedback though. Real good feedback. |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
Mystery, adventure, romance, action, drama, most genres I can do, and prefer. I can beta horror and humor. Don't expect much from me though. I like to write for OC's,because that gives me a chance to try something completely new. Canon's...I really need to know the character in order to work with them. I can do the canon's and oc's if they are put together. However if a canon falls for a canon, I need to know the canon even more then I do. |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
Mary-sues, and Marty-sues. That just says it. I will try a story, but if it's total mary-sue by at least chapter 6, you're in for it. Now, if you really want me to beta-read, even if it is a mary/marty/gary-sue, then I will try, and help fix it. |
