Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
If I Beta your story, I will do my best to help you make it flow through nicely, and correct spelling, punctuation and grammar to the best of my ability. Most of what you need to know is written below, and if you think I suit your needs, feel free to contact me! |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Spelling, punctuation, and most aspects of grammar. I can make a story flow pretty well, and can give it a little more meat, rather than just a story of dialogue. Also, alternative words for things. Eg: Not just using the word "said" all the time, and just different words that you don't normally think of when writing a story. [And if you do then you probably don't need a beta in the first place!]
I like to be as historically accurate in all my works as I possibly can, so wherever possible, I make sure to use the correct dates, times and characters relevant.
I also have no problem with poetry, although I'm not the worlds greatest poet, I do read a lot of it, and will give it a crack. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
The ability to make longer sentences shorter. I tend to ramble and have an extraordinary sentence at the end of it, rather than breaking it all up, but sometimes this works quite well.
Spacing. I still need to go that little bit further with paragraph and line spacing, but I can make it readable of course. I can section everything out just nicely, but whether it is to novel standard, I can't be sure of. |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I have absolutely no problem with slash [I write it myself!] or femslash, canon or non canon [as long as it's not too far fetched], or anything out of the ordinary. Most categories I will have a stab at, with the exception of those listed below. My specialty subjects however, would be:Young Dracula. [Tv Series]
Harry Potter. [I'm not going to bother here]
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Games.
Most Enid Bylton Series.
Vam [Ville Valo and Bam Margera]
HIM [Band]
The 69 Eyes [Band]
The Beatles [Again, not going to bother with an explanation.]
Hey Arnold [Tv show]
Round The Twist. [TV Show. I know EVERYTHING there is to know about this show, so I would be great to beta a RTT story, even if I do say so myself]
The Big Bang Theory [The only sitcom I ever watch and will watch]
Sweeney Todd [Movie/Play]
Watchmen [Graphic Novel/Comic/Movie]
Interview With The Vampire/Queen Of The Damned [Movies only, I haven't finished the books yet.] And plenty more! Even if I've not heard of it, I'll give it a stab, but you may be better off with another beta depending on what it is. |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
I'm sorry but I would prefer not to beta any Twilight, High School Musical, Jonas Brothers, Hannah Montana, or anything similar. I will do my best to beta Categories I don't have a vast knowledge of by doing some research, but be sure to take a look at my general interests to see if I would have any prior knowledge. I don't really know a lot about many anime things however, even though I quite enjoy them. Pokemon is the exception there, but that's to be expected, as I grew up with Pokemon. |
