Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I suppose that I'm a beta-reader in that I look for spelling errors, grammar errors, or if something just doesn't sound right, I'll want to fix it. That's basically what I do, and if you are looking for a quick fix for spelling and grammar errors, then I will do just that. But I can go above and beyond, and I WILL comment in the story if whoever I'm betaing for decides that it's ok. I'll leave Beta Notes at the end or the beginning, just my own two cents to the story, whether it be one shot or chapter story. I might even suggest something, purely in a creative way for the writer's benefit. But I will not write an entire story for whoever I'm betaing a story for, because that'd be plagiarism (obviously). So, spelling, grammar, comments, ideas. That's me. Just call me the average beta-reader, with a little kick thrown in.You should know that I won a spelling bee, so I know how to spell most words, and that helps me in my betaing. And I get A's in my English classes. Yeah. First and only language is English, so don't ask me to do anything but English because I will NOT understand anything. At all. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My strengths are definitely my ability to judge spelling and grammar issues. I might not be the most creative person, and I might not have any good ideas for a continuation, but I am definitely a good spelling/grammar beta-er. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I suppose my weakness is creativity. Once I have an idea, I just kinda go with it and stay on that track. So if you're looking for any kind of idea, then I suppose you'll have to ask around, because I can't come up with something without seriously thinking about it. |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I definitly prefer to do stories about things I know about, so that would include Naruto, Bleach, Harry Potter, Tokyo Mew Mew, Fullmetal Alchemist, Death Note, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Avatar, Alice in Wonderland, any musicals or popular book series; anything like that. Just ask me if I've ever heard of anything, and if I have, then I will definitely beta for it. But if I don't know about an anime or a book, then PM me a short description of the anime, the characters used, and the storyline (so that I can fully understand what I'm working with, and I need that because I'm a freak like that), and I will do my best to beta for you. |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
I don't have a preference as to what I won't beta. A job is a job, and I will be glad to read anything thrown at me. So, do your best! |
