I'm just a person with a critical eye for grammar. I tend to edit things in my head as I read anyway, so I figured if I could actually help someone out, I may as well become a beta. I have absolutely no experience whatsoever, but you've got start somewhere. If I get anything to beta, I'll go at it as soon as I can, and I'll be sure to say so if I'll not be available.

My eye is for the spelling and grammar of the prose. I'd pass over grammatical errors in dialogue because they could be portraying the character's speech, but I'd still point them out in case they weren't intended that way until I was more certain about the characters in question. If there's something I'm not sure about, I'll look it up or ask someone I know for help, so you can be sure your story gets a thorough looking over.

I'm no good with characterization. I can tell when I like something and when I don't, but I don't always know what specifically makes a plot or style no good. And since I don't understand it myself, I'll be no use in advising how to improve. I also have a little trouble with commas, and when to/not to begin a new paragraph around dialogue.

Just check out my favorites list. Almost everything on it is the kind of thing I love to read, and would be honored to improve upon. But I'll Beta anything; just don't expect me to point out mistakes of character or plot if I'm not familiar with the fandom. I haven't marked any full categories as preferred because I have no preference; I will literally Beta ANYTHING. The specific categories I have marked are just the fandoms I'm most familiar with, the ones whose worlds and characters I know inside and out and will be able to help you handle as you write.

Crackfics in general are just not my cup of tea. Also, anything that ups the emotional tension (such as angst or tragedy) tends to get me teary, and it's kind of hard to edit something you can't see. I'll still do it, but I reserve the right to refuse if I've done some recently. I won't do anything rated Mature, just because I'd have to skip those parts of it anyway in order to maintain my sanity. I'm not particularly fond of yaoi and the like either, but if it's just fluff I think I can handle it.
