Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I am actually a high school English teacher. I live my life finding spelling/grammar mistakes or punctuation errors. I'm not a Grammar Nazi though. :) I like to help make writing better. It's my whole goal in life (hence, being a teacher). As your Beta, I would read through your story to make sure that the plot flows, that the characterization is developed, and that overall your writing matches your prompt or your goal with the story. I want your story to be the best it can be. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Impeccable spelling skills, thorough knowledge of all things grammar (as much as I hate it), the ability to read a piece quickly and efficiently while giving accurate, constructive feedback, and my deep undying love of reading EVERYTHING. I look to uplift and encourage writers, not destroy their confidence. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I do have the tendency to become impatient. If I feel that you are ignoring the project or my advice, my comments might become a little harsher. Also, if I've read too many pieces that are pushing my buttons, I have the tendency to become negative. This DOES NOT mean that I'm going to rip you to shreds just because I'm in a bad mood. Again, I have your best interests in mind. I do apologize if I take things too far and realize that I've been harsh. |

I have no preference in what I'm reading and critiquing. All stories are fine, including slash, poetry, and drabbles. |
