I've been around FFnet for a while and I love it, so I've decided to lend my services to beta-ing to take a more active role in the FFnet community, so that I'm still doing something for the site during my 'dry spells' of writing. I can do the basic grammar, spelling, punctuation and pointing out plot-holes or logic-fails, of course. If requested, I can certainly do more, such as suggestions for what works and doesn't. I want the author to make their expectations, needs and wants very clear because I can and will adapt to fit them and that way we'll both be happy. I hope we work well together.

Spelling and punctuation are definitely two aspects of writing I excel at. I'm also good at making sure the 'flow' of the story works as well as the 'seeing what works and what doesn't part', being a writer myself - I think most would agree it's a sort of sixth sense, you can just tell if a phrase/sentence doesn't 'fit'. I can't promise to always have the perfect suggestion to 'fix' something that doesn't quite work, but I will try my best and I will most likely at least notice it in the first place.

I would have to say grammar. It's not that I'm bad at it, persay, it's just that I often disregard it. You could compare it to E.E. Cummings disregarding capitilization. No matter how many times Word insists on telling me I have a 'fragment' sentence, if it sounds good to me, then I will keep it. I like when the story actually 'sounds' good when you read it, whether aloud or in your mind.

I don't really have any preferences. I will be satisfied as long as the writer actually cares about their work and has a good amount of respect for the craft of writing.

Smut. If it is purely a sex scene with no semblance of a plot - I'm talking, you begin at the sex and end immediately after - then I would prefer not to betaread something like this. Of course, it depends on each individual case, but for the most part I would say no to smut. No Mary-sues. I don't think this needs further explanation. No OCs either. I won't do certain pairings. Is it petty? Perhaps. I'm only human.
