As a beta-reader, I try not to undermine the author by shooting down plotlines or trying to take over the story and do everything. I like to help people improve their writing because it helps me see what I'm doing wrong as well and improve my own style as well.
AS a beta, I don't try and tell you what to do, I just spitball ideas because it's your fic and it's not going to hurt my feelings if you don't use any ideas I give you, I'd actually admire you more for having faith in yourself. But if you do need help, I'll try and support you as best I can.

I don't believe in just picking out every single weak part of a chapter because 99% of the time there's stuff that's good as well. I write lots of different types of stories as well.
And I'm constructive with critiscm rather than insulting you because I know how useless that can make you feel and it's just bullying.

I may take a while to reply because I find it very hard to sit and read long enough to finish chapters unless the story interests me.

I prefer to beta stories I'm comfortable with and interest me because, as I stated before, I do find it difficult to sit still and read a chapter unless it interests me.

Because of my age, fourteen years young, I won't beta for M rated romance stories, not because I'm sheltered or a bible-pusher but because I have no experience with the genre and therefore couldn't help.
Hardcore graphic violence stories aren't a strength of mine either.
