As a beta reader I would most likely concentrate on the technical elements of a peice, however I might also make suggestions about some of the content as well.

I have a fairly acute eye for noticing spelling and grammar errors as I read a piece; in addition, I am happy to suggest rephrasing when the wording of a sentence obscures it's meaning.

An author ought to know that I am Canadian and therefore much of my spelling tends to side with the European spellings, as opposed to the American spellings, of words. As well, I tend not to remember things like the ages of characters or the dates that certain things have happened so although I would be happy to research such a thing, I might not know the answer.

I am completely happy to beta any type of story and would be happy to help.

Although it is unlikely that I would decline a story just because I wasn't familiar with a fandom, it would be unlikely that I could help with much beyond structure.
