Hiya! As a betareader, it is my goal to help writers post gramatically correct stories that readers will enjoy and that the writers themselves love. There's no point in writing something you don't love. I often start my own stories with a solid beginning and a first chapter, and ask for nothing more from anyone looking for a beta. I just ask that you be open to change, and are willing to talk, at length, about the direction you see your story going in. I ask a lot a questions about the things I read, and I am no different when I beta. I focus on plot and organization the most, because I find those to be the hardest things to figure out when I write. Only after you get your ideas down can you go back and revise and edit them. I try to make sure the writers know what they are trying to say when they write something, and that it makes sense in the grand scheme of their story. I will not rewrite a story for an author, but help them fix their own writing.

I am constantly questioning the motives and reasons behind why writers play out things the way they do. I love to think about the variety of ways a single situation could have happened. I do not judge, and I realize that what I am reading is someone else's ideas. I am very meticulous about making sure that there are no plot holes, and that what happens in the story in plausible. I have good understanding of writing conventions, and I know how to use a dictionary and a thesaurus (which i am constantly doing when I write my own stories).

When I write I have a hard time coming up with the little details that make the story more believable. I also struggle with creating convincing dialouge, and have a hard time making the conversations seem effortless and natural. I am a little bit dyslexic, which leads to trouble seeing misspelled words sometimes. However, because I have to read slower I pay more attention to the details given and the conversations written. I focus on these things in other people's writing because I struggle with it, and I can tell pretty quickly when a conversations seems forced or details are left out.

I prefer Harry Potter fanfiction, mostly because its what I know best. However, I don't want to limit my services and I would have no problem accepting stories from other universes (so long as you would be willing to provide a quick background of things i would need to know). I am open to all ratings, and I have no problem reading adult pieces.

I don't particularly enjoy overly angsty pieces. I don't mind a little depression or death, but there's only so much darkness I can handle in one sitting. On the other hand, I don't normally read little fluffy bits of cotton candy either. However, if the stories are well written or have a good solid idea, i wouldn't mind working with them.
