Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Hey everybody! XD Let's see, how to start...When I betaread, I typically look a story over for grammar mistakes, too much/too little dialogue or action, Mary Sue/Gary Stu-ishness, and major gaps in a plotline. Before I'll agree to beta-read a story, I'd like the author to give me a summary to look over so I can get a feel for what I'll be reading, but this isn't mandatory. If you want me to betaread something, please PM me and I'll get back to you within three days. If I'm beta-ing for somebody, I'd much prefer if we got along, but I'm pretty easygoing and agreeable and am sure this won't be a problem. If you want me to beta-edit your story, please give me: Author's name; category; genre; rating; title; summary you're planning to use for the story when you post it (can be more detailed than this, but it's optional). |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I can catch grammar mistakes of any kind pretty reliably, and can help keep characters IC (even OC characters have a personality, and once I get a feel for the way you write with a character, I'm pretty good at telling when they're IC and OOC).I'm able to help with plot and character development, and can make suggestions, but will try to stick to your plot at all times. |

If your story is really long, it may take me a while to beta-read it. I apologize, but I'd like to do my best to catch all mistakes. If you feel I'm REALLY taking too long, or even kinda taking too long, by all means PM me. I'll try to keep my comments short, sweet, and to the point, but I may get a little lengthly...sorry... |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I prefer stories where the author is interested in keeping canon characters IC. Please don't give me anything where the author is transported In-Universe, or where the characters come to the 'real-world' for any reason, including gameshows. I will do OC stories as long as they aren't Mary-Sues/Gary Stus. For anything outside of Warriors, I prefer at least some canon characters. Also, please stick to categories in my beta-preferences for best results. :-) |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
Parodies and humor aren't really my thing, but I can try them...I warn you, I probably won't be of much help in those categories. I will only betaread stories where I know the original fiction, or at least what it's like (however, there are some exceptions here, PM me). AU isn't totally out of the question, but I don't prefer it. I don't do any slash at all. I also don't prefer stories with high profanity content or those rated over T, and this reader is not at ALL multilingual (if you don't believe me, ask me in Spanish), so please stick to stuff in English. |
