I'll be honest, I've never done this before, so I'm actually trying out for beta-reading. But that's also how I probably am as a beta-reader. I'll be honest, especially about criticism, but I'll be nice about it. Basically what I will do is check the story and re-read it again (to check if I missed anything the first time). I'll gladly help with content problems. And I would never change an individual writing style, I can help getting a groove in writing, though.

An important side-note: I'm not from an English speaking country, but I - more or less - grew up bilingually.

I can always check for typos (if it's not your own story it's easier to find them). Another strength is writing conversations. And writing in first-person (as I do so myself).

Grammar, probably. I'm trying to improve that (and I have the feeling I'm getting better), but if you want a gramatically correct story I'm probably not the best beta-reader.

I love stories with social interaction, that's why I'm into pretty much everything that has do do with romance. I like non-canon couples a lot, especially if they're Yuri (Femmeslash, GirlxGirl), and very much preferred are Miley/Lilly (Hannah Montana), Lightning/Vanille (FFXIII) and Vivi/Nami (One Piece). I'm open to other stories (and couples) as well, though ;)

Not so much into stories where main characters die. I'm more of the happy ending kind of type. I don't mind drama, though, that's always good. I'm also not too fond of stories that contain of 90% sex, or horror.
