Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Well... When I read a story, I enjoy reading it for pleasure while I read through for errors and what could have been done better. If you would rather I not really read your stories, and I mean read and think about them, then do not come to me for help.As a beta-reader, I am a tad on the professional side at first. I may seem rude, blunt, taciturn, call it what you will. I say I'm opinionated. If you want me to beta-read for you, there are certain things that you cannot expect of me. I do not do time limits. By time limits, I mean, "Have it done in an hour or so." As I will later state, my schedule does not allow for things like that. Also, you cannot always expect me to act like an adult. It's unrealistic to ask a child to act like an adult, therefore, I expect YOU not to expect that of me. All in all, as long as you don't ask me to do anything ridiculous, I will help. :) I'm nice like that. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I am very good at imagery and describing things, and can help you if you need me to on things like this. I can also help your sentences flow better if you need me to. Or, I can just run spellcheck. What I do is up for discussion. Really, I can do just about anything [you] might need me to do as a beta-reader. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I tend to have drag on sentences, because I try to jam too much in between two periods. Probably the biggest though, is that I have a very unwilling schedule, and may not be able to meet a deadline. Also, I have yet to finish my schooling, so upper level literary techniques will most likely slip past me.That's a brief summary of what you'll have to worry about. |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I would prefer to beta-read a story from the follwing series, or at least the same genre as one of them:
Legend of Zelda (ex; Twilight Princess, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Link's Awakening [and DX], the Oracle games, Wind Waker, and Phantom Hourglass)
Twilight (ex; Twilght, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn)
Harvest Moon (ex; AWL, Magical Melody, and Tree of Tranquility)
The Inheritance Cycle (ex; Eragon, Eldest, and Brisingr)
The House of Night series (ex; Marked, Betrayed, and Chosen)
Harry Potter (ex; All of them)
