Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Typically I prefer you linking me to a Google Doc where I can comment directly/suggest edits. While I mainly focus on errors and faults, I do always point out strong points and will never, EVER trash your fic. If it's a grammatical check, I will simply go through myself and edit the document and send it back to you. If you don't like point-specific commentating, I can also do summary-reviews of your work! This would be one to a few paragraphs highlighting my views and giving a broad statement of my take on it. ~*~*~ If we disagree on something, please fight with me! (ha ha). No for real. If you disagree with something I'm saying, please, PLEASE tell me so. Whether it's a line you believe should be left in or an action that you think isn't OOC, I will always be super happy to hash it out with you. Fic is supposed to be a fun study of canon, and we should have fun exploring our opinions and coming to something we believe is right! And in the end, it's your fic, and I will always support your final decision. Obviously, the only exception to this is if you're writing something extremely harmful that like, legitimately promotes hatred and intolerance. I ain't furthering your Nazi agenda, sweet pea! ~*~*~ The only thing I ask for is respect, kindness, and commitment. If I beta something for you, especially relating to grammatical errors, I want to see improvements. Not perfection! But effort to improve. I'm just saying I'm not here to let you laze your way through writing just so I'll fix your grammar every chapter. ~*~*~ And finally, of course, I reserve to right to decline for any reason. But I will always tell you why! Typically this just boils down to I'm not familiar enough with the canon or characters or something like that. |

My forte lies in naturalness - I have an eye for finding awkward wording, characterization, and plot, explaining why exactly it's awkward, and then proposing suggestions to fix it! |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I can be on the slow side in getting back to you just from busyness with real-life stuff :( Additionally, when a story needs to be seriously, seriously overhauled (as in, majorly rewritten from almost scratch) I don't have the time and energy to explain what to rip apart and how to revive it. If that's the case, I'll direct you to my Paypal and we can work something out (lol). |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
My favourite genre is romance (especially paranormal), but I am comfortable with every other genre. That being said, while I will always be great with pointing out possible flaws and potential changes, when it comes to horror and sci-fi I think I'm weaker at suggesting how to fix it, lmao. |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
Anything that willfully promotes oppression, ignorance, or intolerance. I am not going to help you glorify Nazi-ism, explain why homophobia and beating your wife is okay, etc. HOWEVER, IF YOUR STORY DEALS WITH SENSITIVE ISSUES I AM ALWAYS 100% HERE TO HELP YOU WRITE IT IN AN APPROPRIATE AND RESPONSIBLE MANNER. This includes unhealthy relationships, toxic characters, and dark narratives! THIS ALSO GOES FOR M-RATED FANTASIES :) |
