I read all stories with an eye for grammar, plot, character development, and overall flow. I may recommend different word choices or ideas in a piece. I also require that the author THINKS--that is, makes the effort to write a good story. I'll point out plot holes or cases of OOCness. I'm not going to coddle you--if you want someone to just be your spellcheck, then go somewhere else. My overall rule, however, is that the author is the final editor. You can take my advice or leave it. In the end, it is your work, and no one else's. I will not be offended if you decide not to follow my advice--however, in return, you cannot get mad at me for suggesting something different than what you had in mind.

I am an English major with a concentration in Creative Writing. I have a good eye for character--that is, if a character is in character. I also have a fairly good ear for sentence flow. I'm also pretty good at spotting grammar issues--for example, punctuation, 'there,their,they're' type mistakes, run-on sentences. I am good at balancing my critiques--I don't believe in flaming a person and telling them that they suck and shouldn't bother writing anything, ever. I'll always mix in good with the bad.

I'm not the best speller in the world, so sometimes a mistake might slip by me. I can also be a little harsh in my criticism if something strikes me as just being really wrong. I'm not tactful, but I don't flame. Sometimes I can get a little stuck in how I see a story, and have a hard time looking at it from another perspective. But I generally make an effort.

I prefer action/adventure/humor to romance. Actually I prefer anything over straight romance. I will read any type of story, but I prefer something where the sole purpose of the story isn't to get two people into bed.

If it doesn't have a plot, or if the purpose of the plot is to simply throw two characters into bed together, then don't give it to me. I don't mind slash, as a general rule, but any excessive displays of emotion between any pairing is usually not my cup of tea--especially when they aren't two characters that we would normally see that type of interaction between.
