Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I enjoy proof-reading--or beta reading of any sort--I really do. But I'm not afraid to mark something up. As far as my expectations go, I request only two things: the first is that whattever it is that you wish for me to beta is at least understandable (is that even a word? o.O). If I can't understand it, I can't help you. The second is that you have fun with what you write! Please. Put your feelings into it, carve out what you want to say with some emotion. Have fun with it, go crazy, come from the left wing unexpectedly with something no one has ever thought of before. Because if you have fun writing, then I enjoy reading. :3 |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Grammatical errors are a good catch for me. I also will probably encourage anywhere between mild-moderate imagery in your work(s) of fiction, possibly even heavy usage in certain situations: sometimes, it's best to follow the "don't tell, show" policy. However, I will also encourage you to GO DEEP,even with dialogue. I may or may not ask you "what you're selling", ( I blame my AP English class for that one...:P), if I sense that even you aren't entirely certain about where you're going. In addition to the afore mentioned, I also know the usage of several rhetorical, or literary, devices: irony, sarcasm, paradox, juxtaposition, and the ever-useful satire. And any type of argumentitive writing is a plus. ;3 |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Dialogue. I myself am working on that, so maybe we can get over this hurdle together. -.-' I can edit dialogue, but sometimes I'm just waaay too lazy to add more to my own stories. So if you need pointers or anyhting on that topic... I can give pointers,not necessarily well-formulated and specific ideas for a certain situation in the story, but some general ideas nonetheless. :P |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
Almost anything. I'm not particularly picky. Multi-chaptered writing, especially those of the long-ish breed, are a plus, as are series,one-shots,two-shots,three-shots... you get the point. I won't say no to a good song fic, poem, or drabble, though. :3 Most other types of stories (AU, non-canon, and so on...), I don't have a problem with. |
