Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I easily catch grammatical mistakes, which makes me a very meticulous editor, and I'm pretty strict with my grammar rules. I do bend the rules, however, to fit certain inflections or to better suit the author's style. I only ask that you not completely dismiss my edits, as it usually takes at least an hour per chapter, and it only serves to make me feel useless. And, unless otherwise specified (like, in the summary, or the chapter intro), I am a complete content nazi-staying in character, details like that. That means if you say that the characters are OOC, or it is an Alternate Universe, I won't hold you to such strict standards. Also, I'm not here to give you ideas. That's your job. If I come up with an idea, I'm posting it myself. |

Spelling is my strongest skill. I'm also quite adept at catching improper word usage and syntactical errors. |

Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I mostly prefer yaoi (I will edit for stories with Het or even Yuri as a small side-pairing) or non-shipped stories, and I'm unfamiliar with about 98 percent of the fandoms. I'll only Beta for the fandoms I know inside and out: Angel Sanctuary, Bleach, DNAngel, Death Note (not necessarily Another Note), Devil/Devil, FLCL, Yami no Matsuei (Descendants of Darkness), Le Chevalier d'Eon (mangaverse), and Saiyuki (including Reload/Gunlock). I also know Inuyasha very well; I have not read the manga (yet), but I have gleaned quite a bit of information. I have also read a significant number of legally-obtained English volumes of Soul Eater, and all currently available Fullmetal Alchemist, Deadman Wonderland, Dogs: Bullets and Carnage, and Black Cat. I do make an exception to aforementioned rules-AU stories. I WILL accept from other fandoms I'm not encyclopedically knowledgeable about, but I do know the characters well. There are too many to bother listing here, so run it by me first, and I'll tell you if I can beta it. Unless all you want is a spell/grammar-checker, then I'm all ears. Err... finger... keys... |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
I will NOT, under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, beta a yuri main-pairing story. I will do one with a couple, but no physical stuff. I have nothing political against it, I just don't like lady parts. Not even my own, frankly. I will also not beta a story where the *main* pairing includes: Risa/Riku/'Rika' Harada, Mio Hio, Doll, Alexiel, Kanan(Saiyuki), Lirin, Kirie, most of the Inuyasha women, Misa Amane, Sandalphon, Goku (Saiyuki), Naota's dad, Ranfuu, Gat, and Shirley (Code Geass; just don't like her), any RoyxEd (just doesn't feel right), Angelika Einsturzen ('nuff said), Eve (Black Cat; she's just so young), and frankly, anybody who's in their early teens or younger unless age-progressed or with somebody their own age. I *might* make exceptions for pairings involving some females like: Nanami(Devil & Devil), Rin (NOT with Sesshoumaru), Yaone, Naomi Misora, and certain OC's that don't irritate me. There are so many women in Angel Sanctuary and Bleach, it's probably just best to ask, but most of them are decent. Arakune doesn't count, because... just-yeah. |
