As a beta-reader I take more of a laid-back approach concerning making actual corrections. I like to instead make comments about the story, about my feelings throughout and suggestions that I think might be helpful. Any corrections to grammar and spelling will be in bold with a little explanation if necessary. I'm never a forceful person and will not try to commandeer a story and make it my own. I think that writers should mostly rely on their own creative abilities to write a story, and I'm merely here as an editor and a sounding board.

I can be very blunt and will not mince my words although I am always careful to be tactful; likewise, my praises tend to be very effusive.

If you are to ask for my services, I only ask that you have a fine grasp of grammar and spelling. The occasional spelling error or typo is expected, but if a story is riddled with tense changes, poor grammar, and horrendous spelling, I will refuse to beta.

Other than than, I will accept virtually everything.

My strengths would be diction and syntax. In my own writing, I'm good at characterization and spotting plot holes, so I can definitely apply those skills to anything I beta. I can help fix any awkward points in a story, and help iron out wrinkles concerning flows and issues along those lines.

I will catch all spelling mistakes 99% of the time, and I'm confident that I'll be able to correct punctuation as well.

As a writer, my weakness is definitely tense shifts. As a beta, I'd like to improve my eye for spotting grammar mistakes.

I prefer stories written by people who have a good grasp on grammar and spelling. I think that my job as a beta is to refine--not to rewrite.

I will most likely refuse to beta any of the following: Mary Sue-fic, RL-crossovers, Extreme OOC.
