This is a stand-alone story. I heard South of Santa Fe by Brooks and Dunn for the first time and my mind immediately went to Bart Maverick. You can read this without reading anything else, but it would help a great deal if you read my story 'Doralice' first. If not the whole story, please read Chapter 20 and this will make more sense. It also helps if you listen to the song first.
