A Draco/Scorpius Father's Day fiction. Thanks to 123Quarters for creating this challenge.
Scorpius is roughly around four to six years old, by the way.
Enjoy!
I pushed the present into the corner of the room, being super careful it didn't rip. Mummy took my drawing for daddy and placed it behind the big, wrapped gift and reminded me to give daddy a big hug, tomorrow morning.
I was so excited for tomorrow when daddy tucked me into bed that night. Tomorrow was father's day, and mummy and I had chosen a big present for daddy. I wanted to wrap it, and I almost did, until I ripped it. But not on purpose! Nuh-uh, it was an accident. The first time... I liked the noise so I kept ripping it and ripping it, then mummy decided she would wrap it. It looked really pretty when she'd done it.
"Goodnight, Scorpius." Daddy smiled, tucking me in extra tight, so I couldn't fall out, because sometimes I roll around and last time I fell out of bed and hurt my tooth. But it's okay now. The tooth-doctor fixed it.
"Goodnight, daddy." I replied.
Very quickly, I fell asleep.
I woke to mummy nudging me, asking to help her make breakfast for daddy, who was still sleeping. I could tell because I could hear him snoring. I had to hold down a laugh as we tip-toed passed mummy and daddy's room. I was more careful on the stair case, because one of them made a creaking noise. One that could wake daddy up.
Mummy took me into the kitchen and told me to get out three pans. I did as I was told, because I'm a good boy. I watched mummy cook pancakes, bacon and eggs all at once. It smelled yummy.
"Could your poor daddy's pumpkin juice for me, please, Scorpius?"
"Yes, mummy." I opened the fridge door and reached up high for the pumpkin juice jug. I grabbed it, put it on the floor, stood on a stool and leaned down for the jug before putting it on the bench. After doing the same with a glass, I poured the juice in the cup.
I put the jug back in the fridge and turned to mummy, who was placing the food on three plates.
"Scorpius, honey. Go and get your dad's present, please." She smiled at me, putting the plates on a tray and levi... levitate... lifting it with magic.
I nodded, running out of the kitchen and into the room where we hid daddy's present. First, I took daddy's big present and then very, very carefully, I put my drawing in my pocket, making sure not to fold it.
"Happy father's day, daddy!" I jumped on daddy's bed, after putting the drawing on his bedside table.
"Thank you, Scorpius." He grinned at me and sat up. He sniffed.
"That smells wonderful! Bacon?"
"And eggs and pancakes!"
"Wow,"
After a really tasty breakfast, we told daddy to open his gift.
"Hmm..." he said, tapping his chin. "Long and rectangular... I wonder what it could be..."
The three of us laughed.
I wonder what rectangular means?
He tore open the green, shiny paper and unravelled a broomstick. He gasped, his jaw dropping.
"The new Lighting King Thirty-Two... this is amazing!" he hugged me and mummy.
He was about to get up, when I stopped him. "Wait, daddy! There's something else!"
"Oh, yeah?" he sat down on the bed next to me and mummy left, muttering something about privacy.
"It's a drawing." I explained, giving it to him.
"It's beautiful, Scorpius."
"It's a picture of you and me and mummy... it took me forever!"
"It's amazing, son. I love it."
"I love you, daddy."
"I love you, too, Scorpius."
Short and sweet. I like it.
