A/N: So I haven't looked at this story in years but people have been favoring it recently which made me reread it I gotta say the story is unbeta'd and my grammar was and probably is still terrible lol. However I did seem to be a fun story and I decided to play with it a little not sure when I will have time to update again but I think I will concentrate on this one for awhile. Having said that I am in the military and deploying soon so I have no idea how much or how little time I may have sporadic would be a good word for that lol. I haven't really decided on the animagus forms of the three or what limits or powers I will attribute to the three though I will say I decided against making either of the twins bond to a Harry-dragon.
On With the Story:
Harry looked up with a smile as he heard footsteps on the path to their tent knowing that it could only be Eragon. Their day in the town had gone well and they had made friends with the townspeople though they had told them that they had just arrived and were staying out in the forest while they visited the town. None of them had any intention of staying around Carvahall knowing that Eragon would not be able to stay here for very much longer.
His dragon, once it hatched would make sure of that very well on his or her own. Assuming that dragons here grew to a similar size as ones on earth did and at a similar rate it would be very hard for the boy to hide such a creature.
"Harry!" Eragon called as he came into view on the little game trail that led to the clearing. The teen looked a little bit worried and seeing the small blue thing in his arms it was fairly obvious what was on the boy's mind.
"So she finally decided to come out of her egg?" Harry asked with a smile directed at the young dragon.
"You knew?!" The teen exclaimed.
"Of course," Harry said simply as he studied the young blue dragon that was currently acting like a very excitable cat trying to knock him over circling around his shins once the teen put her on the ground.
Kneeling down to her level Harry let the little dragon sniff at his hand as her powerful mind reached out to his own in an attempt to communicate though the dragon was currently too young to communicate in actual words.
"We have known it was a dragon's egg since the forest when you found it though I will admit I did not expect you to try and sell the egg it was insanely funny." Harry paused as the little dragon hissed and her mind took on a tinge of adolescent fury at the reminder. The glare she was giving the teen that the boy appeared to not notice was truly far too cute to be intimidating. "It looks like this little lady does not find it quite as funny as we did."
The teen got a sheepish look as he finally noticed that the dragon was attempting to glare furiously at him. "She hatched last night," Eragon told him trying to ignore the last two minutes of the conversation.
"Have you named her yet?" Harry asked as the Twins hearing the conversation came out to join them.
"No I don't know any names that seem right for her." The teen said giving the dragon a besotted look. "I was hoping that you guys would be able to watch her for me, I can't keep her at the farm and she is far too small to stay anywhere by herself for any length of time."
"On the condition that you come and visit her often we have no problem with that." George said after the three talked about it quietly. "We definitely have enough supplies to feed her."
"Yes we do. Though you, little lady, will need to stay away from my forge." Harry said gesturing behind him as the slightly glowing anvil that he had set up in front of the tent. The blue-green glow of his own magic showing just how powerful the magic on the metal was to be visible to the naked eye. "I do not want you to get hurt and some of the enchantments I work with could injure us both rather severely if you distracted me in the middle of weaving them."
Harry fully trusted in the sentience of the little dragon, though young he could feel just how smart she truly was it would not be long before she would be communicating quite easily with all of them and he could tell she would be a powerful example of her race; Even if he had never met another of her kind.
Eragon settled himself on the ground as Harry stood up moving back to his forge to finish the bow he was working on. He had no idea why he was making a metal bow but the thought had jumped out to him during his last meditation session with the twins and would not let up until he had started on it.
Even he wasn't sure how powerful the thing would be once he was done many of the enchantments had never been mixed together on one weapon before and the results of mixing them could be unpredictable. If he was telling the truth that was something about enchanting that he loved the sometimes unpredictable results could surprise even a Master Enchanter with years of experience.
Though the Wizards of Earth had hated that and created ways to force the magic to only do exactly what they wanted it to do. Harry himself during his experiments since they had gotten here had decided he rather liked letting the magic shape itself in some ways. The results while unpredictable were several times more powerful then when the magic was forced into a shape it did not want to be in. Roran's Hammer being just one example of this.
"What is he doing?" Eragon asked as Fred and George settled on the ground on either side of him watching Harry with affection as he lost himself in his work.
"Creating new things is something Harry loves most something that has been true since he started learning to create things with his magic instead of just destroying things. It was the reason that our brother Bill started to teach him Runic Magic. This bow was something that his magic was telling him needed to be made though we don't yet know what it is being made for." Fred said seriously.
The three of them turned their attention from watching Harry as the little dragon made a shrill noise as she played near the rowan tree it looked like she had found a squirrel and decided it was now her play toy as she chased the poor thing around the tree somehow making sure it could not get close enough to the tree to climb out of her reach.
A few hours later the tree of them looked up from the dragon sleeping on the carpet in the tent as Harry walked into the tent covered in sweat though with a happy grin on his face as he brought in the finished bow he had been working on. It was made of what looked to be silver with an intricate design of a dragon in flight carved in green jewels covering it from tip to tip. The gem was glowing slightly though even as they watched the glow seemed to be fading into the gem getting dimmer as the seconds passed. The whole image was awe-inspiring though the three were confused when he walked into the room and hung it on the wall where a couple of hooks melted out to hold it.
"It's beautiful." Eragon whispered in awe as he stared at the bow now hanging on the wall. Fred and George nodded dumbly they never knew that Harry could create something so beautiful.
Harry gave the three an exhausted and distracted nod as he stumbled his way towards the bathroom so he could wash all the sweat off of himself. The bow had taken almost his entire reserve of magic to create. The enchantment on it being hopelessly complex was draining to complete even if he was just allowing his magic to do as it wanted. He still wasn't sure exactly what the bow was capable of nor what it was needed for or even when it would be needed. He was only sure of two things, it would be needed and only the one it was made for would be able to even lift it off the hooks it now hung on.
After his shower Harry slowly made his way to the bedroom and collapsed on the bed completely forgetting that Eragon was there as he fell asleep instantly after his head hit the pillow.
As he slowly came back to consciousness the next morning he stared uncomprehendingly down at the small blue scaled body that he was curled up around wondering what the hell was going on. Looking up as George walked into the room he gave him an inquiring look before he shifted his gaze back to the small dragon.
"She decided last night after she finished playing that the best place to sleep in the entire house was curled up next to you. She absolutely refused to be moved once she settled down and you curled up right around her soon after so we assumed you didn't mind." George told him as they tried not to coo at the cuteness as the little dragon stretched like a cat as she woke up giving the both of them annoyed looks the entire time for waking her up.
