She had no idea what the future would hold for any of them, beyond possibilities as infinite as the stars.

And really, that was enough."

I own nothing but my own ideas

Peter's dad doesn't cancel the birthday celebration. Peter enjoys his day thoroughly.

Gideon Seymour is captured by the Tar Man. Too much goes unsaid between them, for how could they know?

Before they go, Kate and Peter take a moment to say goodbye to Gideon. Dr. Dyer waits patiently. Then together, they turn it on and leave for the future.

Before they go, Kate and Peter say goodbye to Gideon. Dr. Dyer sets up the machine as he waits. It activates early when the Tar Man arrives. Kate and Peter are left behind again.

They wait, impatiently at times, but together they are not as lonely. They settle. They build their future. They are happy with what they have in life. They almost forget they lived in another.

Dr. Dyer is disaduded from going back in time, after his last trip brought back a dangerous criminal.

Blueskin sticks to his ruse of being a ghost. Waits to see what information his former employer will drop.

He may work for the man, but trust him he will not.

"Alright I'll go"

Peter grabs hold of the time machine, and goes back with them.

He stares into the eyes of his past self, in horror.

He should not have done this. He hopes it is not too late to go back with the antigravity machine.

This future should have never happened.

Kate looks at the Peter who lied to her. Who wants them to go get the child he was, rather than the man he has become. Who waited all this time for them to come back. Who is her Guardian.

She lets go of the machine, to the horror of her companions.

She will not abandon him a second time.

They disappear into infinite possibilities.

Kate grabs the time machine. Peter does not. In the past, Dr. Dyer grabs a twelve year old Peter.

As an adult Peter watches this timeline close its doors, his world end. They won't remember him, as he is now.

But he has hope, that the new one will be a better one.

He spends a moment to remember his last family Christmas, before the void consumes all. This world is ending. But many new ones have begun.

Tom wins his struggle, and a man is sent toppling down the stairs.

They return to the appartment in silence, a murder sitting between them.

Tom decides he will stay. The future is both beautiful and terrifying, but for better or worse it's home now.

Blueskin refuses to work for Lord Luxon. He is an independent agent now.

He takes the time machine, and dives into the past. History is at his fingertips.

But perhaps he could be content to stay here, history unchanged. Perhaps he will live here in luxury, have Alice, her museums, and fascinating people to talk to.

There are not many worlds where he is content to simply leave it be, but they are out there.

A fight can go both ways. Here Lord Luxon falls off a building, in a time not his own. History, though changed, settles. All learn to live in this strange world uneasily at first. But the world adapts as it always does. And it's people do too.

Peter covers his ears with her hands, his over hers, trying to protect her. He doesn't let go, and she pulls him in with her by accident. His legs are unsteady at this speed. She realizes what she has done, and tries to push him out, to no avail.

With his help, it is easier to pull Lord Luxon into this time. Kate and Lord Luxon fade. Peter does not. He stares down into the Abyss. He tells her stories until his voice gives out.

Hand in hand, they wait for the end. He does not let go.

No, I will not, Nathaniel tells them.

Peter spends the last hours of this earth frantically looking for the time machine. He spends his last moments watching the world end, as all is consumed by the void.

It's almost dreamlike.

Peter takes a moment before he throws the rock, to think of all the universes he is ending. All the moments he will never have, all that is and was stolen from him by time.

He throws the rock, and disappears along with the possibilities.

Nathaniel and Gideon soon follow.

Nathaniel fades into a familiar Field. He looks around for Gidion, but he appears to be alone.

Has his brother made the trip back? Or is he the only one who will remember?

Nathaniel is hollow. He tries to fade, but it is as if the ability has been burned out of him.

Any future he lives will have to be the one he creates.

But first, he must find his brother and see if the one he knows now has made the trip.

I think I had Aviators "they'll never find us" a fair amount on my mind writing this

"Don't cry for this world bleeding out

They've had their day and ours is now

The way of absolution is the end

The end of all of time

So have some faith and let it fade

In the past our future's made

We'll slip away unseen back to the start

To the start again"
