Cast No Shadow

Within the depths of jungle,

I find myself alone.

Far from friends or allies,

Far from what I might call home.

...

I pause for sip of water,

At a bubbling crystal stream.

Barely recognise reflection,

As if from scarce-remembered dream.

...

Long has been this wandered path,

No markers on this road.

Must always travel light down it,

For soul carries heavy load.

...

A rumble in the skies above,

Gods warring in the clouds.

Thunder heralds looming end,

From beyond the heavens' shroud.

...

From Yamatai to Patiti,

I'm now at long road's end.

Pick up my pace as rain pours down,

Must avert the coming end.

...

The days are growing shorter.

The shadows growing long.

Ever I hear whispered voice,

"To this life, Croft, you belong."

...

"In the jungles of the ancients,

Far from light, within the gloom.

The only place you feel alive,

Is the depths of ancient tombs."

...

I try to silence my mind's whispers,

They bring only misery.

Have to stop coming disaster,

Must thwart plans of Trinity.

...

Must account for my own actions,

Lest horrific price be paid.

Yet the whispers of my mind remain,

"There's always tombs to raid..."
