They both knew this was the end. No help was coming, and soon enough they'll both lose it.

"Naoto?" Heine looked down at her, heavily panting. For the time being she had passed out. He figured it gave him anywhere from five seconds to thirty minutes to regain his composure. Looking down at her, he couldn't help but envy how peaceful she looked, despite the fact just a minute ago she was attacking him to no avail. It wasn't her fault though. Ever since she came down to the lower levels to find him, all they did was use her as a puppet. Heine sat down a few feet away from her, he hated having to be this cautious around her of all people.

Everything was black… the harder she tried to open her eyes the more they sealed shut. She tried to focus on the past months… People to care about, things to protect. She had them now. And she was not about to lose it all here. She didn't know how, or if she could even get out of this place. But she had to. She tightened the grip on her sword and let out a soft moan, doing her best to sit up.

Before he knew it, she began to wake. And it wasn't the possessed Naoto this time. He quickly rushed to help her to sit up. She began to stutter a few words,

"H- hey.. Heine?" She looked up at him with glazed over eyes.

"Yeah?" He nodded slightly.

"You… Never answered my question." He could see a few tears forming in the corners of her eyes, he gritted his teeth.

"What was the question?" He asked, leaning in little closer. Her breath was faint and her words were barely there.

"Are we humans or beasts?"

He looked at her in shock for a moment, before smirking. Even though Naoto's blurred vision, she'd thought to recall the times she saw him smile. She wished she'd seen it more.

"Neither." He said calmly. He brushed back her hair to get a clean look at her. She looked sickly from trauma and blood loss. The worst factor was knowing it was his fault, but he still spoke on.

"I'm too beastly to be close to human… But you, Naoto. You are neither a beast or human. You are a blade."

She managed a weak smile. and even through her tears it was enough to spark some hope in him.

"What about you?" She asked. "Wouldn't that make you a gun?"

His look went slightly sinister. "No," He spoke. "No it wouldn't"

"I'm simply a dog. But you, you were always more than a human."

Her smile slowly wiped away. She sat there for a moment before deciding.

"No." She said.

"No?" He questioned her, still faking that smirk.

"I wouldn't simply fall in love with a dog." Her eyes opened completely and she looked up at him. "Heine, I.."

Within a split second, his smirk was gone. She was giving him the same blank look from before. And the pain in his chest.. No. Not his chest. He looked down to see she had pieced her sword straight through the spine. He hunched forward, and smiled once again.

I'm okay with dying. He thought, As long as it's by her blade.

He looked at her, and pushed the sword further through his back until he was close enough to her.

"Love you." He whispered. He weakly pressed his lips to her cheek. After that he began rapidly losing consciousness due to pain.

When Naoto came to,she felt the sticky red blood covering her shirt and hands. She looked down at Heine, ho was no longer making a single peep. that's when she remembered.

Love you.
