Chapter 10: Connie's Parents
It was a normal day in the sky arena. Said "normal day" was training Connie and Steven. And thanks to Naruto, they came up with a brilliant idea for training.
Having Naruto use clones and transforming them into monsters. IT was a pain for Naruto, but he didn't mind.
He did get some aspirin handy just for that.
"Steven behind you!" yelled Connie .
Steven blocked from a creepy orange demonic creature that the Naruto clones transformed into.
Another tried coming from behind, but Connie struck it with her sword.
"All right!" cheered Naruto.
"How's your headache?" asked Pearl who was near Naruto.
"Not too bad!" said Naruto.
Why are you getting headaches?" asked Pearl.
"Oh you know… I get my memories from my clones back to me." Said Naruto.
"Oh." Said Pearl.
"Yeah… it sucks, but I'm used to it." said Naruto.
"IT's fine." Said Pearl.
The two counited to fight off the fake monsters.
And soon enough they were all beaten.
"All right!" cheered Steven.
Connie went over and checked her phone.
"Oh man… we should get back soon." Said Connie, "I'm starting to run late."
"It's not that bad is it?" asked Naruto.
"It's nothing." Said Connie.
"Connie what is it?" asked Steven getting a feeling from it.
"I still haven't told my mom yet." She confessed.
"What?" asked Steven.
"And?" asked Naruto.
"Naruto… it's a big deal telling my mom." Said Connie.
"Really why?" asked Naruto.
Reminder: Naruto was an orphan.
Connie stared at Naruto.
"I mean your parents." Said Connie.
"Died when I was born." Said Naruto.
"Oh… I… sorry…" said Connie.
"It's okay, I know they loved me when I met them…" said Naruto.
Connie stared at him.
"Don't'… don't ask." Said Naruto, "It's a long story."
"I see." Said Connie.
"So why can't you tell your mom?" asked Naruto.
"Because fighting monsters is not a normal thing on this planted." Said Connie.
"I kind of figured that." Said Naruto.
"I have to go." Said Connie.
"Wait Connie!" said Steven.
"Oh right." Said Connie.
Steven ran to join her because she couldn't use the warp by herself.
They both headed back into house where Connie put on her glasses.
"Hey what's with the glasses?" asked Natsu.
"Oh my mom is picking me up and I don't want her to know about what's going on." Said Connie.
"Really why?" asked Natsu.
"Because I don't want my parents knowing." Said Connie.
"Why?" asked Natsu.
Reminder: Natsu is an orphan who then was raised by a dragon who mystery disappeared.
"Because this isn't like your planet!" said Connie leaving.
She walked to the beach to head to where he mom was going to pick her up.
However after a few steps on the beach, suddenly the ground gave way under her.
Turned out she fell into a pit fall trap that still littered the beach.
She took out her phone.
"Connie where are you?" she heard her mother voice.
"Remember how I told you how Steven's new friends had a prank war and it went too far?" asked Connie.
"Yeah… what about it?" asked her mother on the other end.
"I'm stuck in one of the pitfall traps." Sighed Connie.
"What?" asked her mother.
"One of the pranks involved a bunch of pitfall traps." Sighed Connie.
"Seriously?" asked her mother.
"I'm going to try to call for help." Said Connie, "Hopefully it won't take that long."
"Okay." Sighed her mother on the other end.
Connie sighed as she hung up the phone.
She was about to call Steven.
"Hey! You okay?" asked Luffy seeing the new pitfall.
"I'm fine! Can you get me out Luffy?" asked Connie.
Luffy stretch out his arm and pulled Connie.
"Thanks." Said Connie, "Do you think you can help me in case I fall into another Natsu made way too many."
"Yeah…" laughed Luffy.
He walked with Connie where her mom was warning with the car.
"Why are you wearing glasses? Are you trying to look smarter?" asked Luffy.
"No… Steven healed my eye a long time ago and I haven't told my parents." Said Connie.
"That's stupid." Said Luffy.
"Of course…" muttered Connie.
"Why haven't you told your parents?" asked Luffy.
"Because I'm trying to hide the fact I've been learning how to fight and also how are they going to take all the magic alien stuff?" asked Connie.
"It should be easy." Laughed Luffy.
"No it's not." Said Connie, "this isn't like your planets… I mean you're not an orphan are you?"
"No… I didn't grow up with them but I met my dad a few times." Said Luffy, "I was raised by gramps."
Then Luffy started to shutter.
"Sorry… I don't like thinking about my grandpa." Said Luffy.
"Okay." Said Connie, "But my point is, your dad or grandpa probably wouldn't be against you becoming a pirate!"
"no grandpa hated the fact I became a pirate." Said Luffy.
"Wait… what?" asked Connie.
"He wanted me to become a marine. Which is stupid! And after finding out who my dad is they would have killed me worse than they killed… someone else." Said Luffy who seemed to trail off when he said that last part.
"What?" asked Connie.
"Who cares what your parents think… and if they forbid you! Run away!" said Luffy.
Connie just sighed and face palmed.
"Besides Gramps sent me to live bandits, so…" said Luffy.
Connie knew that marines were something of cops on Luffy's planet… and bandit… well they were bandits.
"Wait… your grandpa wanted to be a cop… but he had you live with bandits?" asked Connie.
"Yep." Said Luffy.
"That… is…" said Connie unsure how to process it.
"But still don't follow what they have to say! You're you own person!" said Luffy, "Don't' make them into something you don't want to be."
Connie was surprised by the good advice.
That was when they saw Connie's parents' car.
Turned out both her parents were in the car.
"There's my parents Bye Luffy!" said Connie.
Luffy waved bye at Connie.
"You got here quickly." Said Connie's dad chuckling.
"He wasn't one of the ones in that prank war, was he?" asked Connie's mom.
"No…" said Connie, "He was the one that stayed out of it."
"Oh… that's good." Said Connie's mom.
They drove away and headed home.
"So Steven's new friends.' Said Connie's dad.
"Yeah… they showed up on his birthday." Said Connie.
"They sound like trouble makers." Sighed her mom.
"Come on their teens." Said Connie's dad, "It makes sense they would be."
"I guess." Grumbled Connie's mom.
Connie didn't want to say that Luffy and Natsu were closer to being adults… well physically…
Both of them had a lot to mature.
That was when they saw a shadow on the road.
"What is that? "asked Connie's mom.
She stopped the car as the thing in front of them started to pound the car.
"What is that thing?" asked Connie's dad.
Connie's eyes widened as she saw what it was.
IT was clearly a gem monster.
"Uh-oh." Said Connie.
Then the gem monster started to wreck the car.
Connie and her family escaped the car.
It continued to pound the car.
Connie took out her phone and called Steven.
"At Stevens' house, Steven and Luffy were watching Sailor Moon.
"So how do they not recognize them again?" asked Luffy.
"I think it's magic. They said it a couple times in the series but everyone who watches complains." Said Steven.
That was when Steven's cellphone rang.
"Hey Connie…" said Steven.
"Steven! There's a gem monster!" yelled Connie.
"What where are you." Said Steven.
"Somewhere between your house and mine." Said Connie.
"I'll find you!" said Steven.
Steven looked over at Lion who was sleeping.
"Lion! Connie is in danger!" said Steven.
Lion seemed to wake right up when Steven said that.
"I'm coming too." Said Luffy.
Steven nodded.
Steven climbed onto Lion and Luffy did so too.
Lion roared open a portal and they got to other side.
Back with Connie and her parents, they were hiding from the gem monster.
That was when they saw Steven, Luffy and Lion appear.
"What the heck!" said Connie's dad.
"Connie!" called out Steven.
However the Gem Monster turned towards Steven ready to attack.
However Luffy called out "Gum Gum Pistol!" and punched away the gem monster.
"Steven over here!" called out Connie.
Steven ran over.
"Are you okay?" asked Steven.
"What's going on?" asked Connie's mom.
"Well…" said Steven.
Luffy saw that the gem monster was going to attack them again and grabbed it.
"Tell them Connie!" yelled Luffy.
Steven looked at Connie and shrugged.
"I might have been hiding some stuff from you…" said Connie.
"What sort of stuff." Said Connie's mom.
"Well um… well to start with, aliens." Said Connie.
"What?" asked Connie's mom.
"That… makes some sense." Said Connie's dad.
Connie's mom and Connie both looked at Connie's dad confused.
"You haven't been paying attention to the news about the weird hand ships…" said Connie's dad.
"My mom was an alien…" said Steven, "And Luffy's an alien too…"
"What?" asked Connie's mom.
"I guess everyone on his planet is stretchy like that." Said Connie's dad.
Luffy was currently swinging around the gem monster.
"Doug… seriously…" said Connie's mom.
"Actually it's just him…" said Connie, "Most people are normal humans for some reason."
"Oh it's one of those planets." Said Connie's dad named Doug.
"Doug…" sighed Connie's mom.
Doug then realized something, something about all this.
"Connie what have you been hiding from us about Steven?" asked Doug.
"What?" asked Connie.
"I remembered how you were afraid that we wouldn't let you see Steven anymore. Tell us what's going on… I won't get angry." Said Doug.
"Doug…" said Connie's mom.
"Priyanka! Steven is her only friend! You know that!" said Doug.
"I've been taking sword lessons at Steven's house to help him fight monsters and he healed my eyes months ago and you haven't noticed!" yelled Connie.
"What?" asked Connie's mom named Priyanka.
"She's really good at using a sword… Pearl and Erza have been teaching her really well." Said Steven.
"I thought your glasses looked off." Said Doug.
Priyanka looked at Doug.
"What I wear glasses, you don't." said Doug.
Priyanka sighed when he said that.
"How do I know you're telling the truth." Said Priyanka.
Connie took off her glasses and showed off they didn't have any lenses.
"Oh… huh…" said Priyanka.
That was when the Gem Monster suddenly crashed nearby. And it was ready to attack.
Lion jumped to Connie's side. Connie looked at Lion and knew what to do, she reached into his mane and grabbed Rose's sword.
She then ran towards the gem monster with the sword cutting it half and causing it to go poof.
"All right!" cheered Luffy.
"I'm sorry I hid this…" said Connie she began to cry, "It's just… that… Steven… he's…"
Doug walked over to Connie.
"It's okay…" said Doug, "It's will be fine…"
Priyanka was just shocked.
"Priyanka … you're the strict parent." Said Doug, "You should say something."
"How long have you known about the monsters?" asked Priyanka.
"The whole time." Said Connie.
"That makes sense considering that giant woman." Said Doug, "That was made up of three smaller woman."
"Seriously Doug" asked Priyanka.
Luffy looked at Steven.
"Look story…" said Steven.
"And your teachers…" said Priyanka.
"Both of them know how to keep me safe." Said Connie, "One of them even learned when she was even younger than me… and she used to be human so she knows how fragile I am."
"Wait… used to be human?" axed Priyanka.
"we're already dealing with aliens… I think we can let it slide." Said Doug.
Priyanka just sighed.
"Just please don't' try to keep us in the dark any more…" said Priyanka, "It does seem like you can handle it."
"Thanks mom…" said Connie.
"And as the fun parent I can legitimately say this! This is awesome!" said Doug.
Priyanka just face palmed.
"Um… so what are we going to do?" asked Connie looking at the totaled car.
"Uh… huh…" said Doug, "I don't know if my insurance will cover monsters…"
"We'll figure something out." muttered Priyanka face palming.
"I didn't know your dad was the fun one." Said Steven.
"Well he's just less strict than mom." Said Connie.
"Oh come on!" said Doug.
"Doug… no…" sighed Priyanka.
"Fine… I'll figure out to shed my strictness with you." Said Doug.
Luffy looked at Steven who shrugged.
With that Connie's parents learned the truth… though it would be kind of hard for Connie's mom to fully accept it.
Connie's dad just thought it was cool and much cooler than his job as a security guard…
But he wouldn't say that out loud that much to be honest.
On the bright side she no longer had to hide it… so that was a load off Connie…
But who knew what the future would hold for her, after all she was still a normal human dragged in this… Who knew exactly what the future would hold.
