And this story line is exactly why I was so glad Richelle Mead allowed Rose to die in the end of Last Sacrifice so the bond would be broken. By coming back on her own she wasn't tied to the other world anymore and she was finally free, free to be herself, free to live her life the way normal people do.

We know Declan's story, how he came to be born. When Adrian told Rose and Dimitri in the epilogue we hope they find they can have children when they want them. But I'm sure there will be a lot of drama before we find out how Richelle Mead finishes this story.

But think for a moment, what if Rose and Dimitri find they can't have their own children. If Rose still had the bond when Lissa and Christian got pregnant, Rose would go through the morning sickness, through the body aches, feeling the baby move, feeling Lissa's love for her baby, then going through labor and delivery with Lissa-not only there for her but probably feeling the pain too. Even if she had developed strong abilities to tune Lissa out, in extreme conditions-like childbirth-I'm sure Rose would experience that with Lissa.

I can't imagine the horrible feelings Rose would have during that time. To feel all those pregnancy symptoms and end up with empty arms. I just can't image the torture.

SO I'm very very glad that Richelle Mead broke the bond between Lissa and Rose. This scene in the story points out exactly what Rose's future could be like if she continues to take Lissa's darkness.

Of course, she meets Oksana and Mark and they have worked out a way for the darkness to be better managed. But I'm sure that Oksana doesn't use a lot of Spirit on a daily basis like Lissa was doing while she was learning and controlling her abilities. After Oksana used Spirit to defeat Avery I wonder if that was the most darkness that Mark had ever had to deal with while he'd been shadowkissed to Oksana.

Like you, i can deal with smut. Also like you i am a huge Sookie/Eric shipper. I'll be totally honest, i like some good smut but not too much because then it gets trashy. Most of all the stories of their first time together all are smutty which is why i love your version of it. I always pictured Dimitri as strong, masculine, and experienced but also being loving and gentle with Rose. Which i think you did perfectly. I really appreciate that you used part of the book into the story. So thank you for writing a realistic portrayal of what might've happened.

Quite out of the blue, I felt in the mood to revisit the VA series, I'm saddened that I can't unread to re-read. I can only imagine Richelle would be more than pleased of your reverse POV. I completely agree with your pre-note. Smut isn't at all my cup of tea, and neither does it resonate with the above characters. Fab work! :))

I was looking everywhere for some good Romitri fanfics like this, but I didn't find any until I stumbled onto this one. I completely and utterly agree with you in what you said in the description - that Rose and Dimitri fanfics shouldn't include things that make them say uncharacteristic things, and which make the fanfic seem like cheap erotica. Because I just can't imagine Rose and Dimitri doing that! So, yeah, this is actually one of the first [smutty] fanfics that I found accurately represents their characters, and which is written really well.
