Look, I realize this story is more than ten years old, but I just spent two days cooped up in my room reading this as fast as I could.
It was absolutely amazing and I can't thank you enough for writing it! Do you realize this story is longer than the first Harry Potter book? I can't even imagine how much time and energy you must have put into this but... wow! Thank you so much!

This is THE MOST intense Bones fic I have ever read. At one point I actually had to stop because the whole thing was killing me - the tone was just incredibly heavy and just... damn. Your characterizations are spot on and heartening.

I have to say my favorite part was when Booth (infected) came in and saved Bones when she crashed the car. I expected it since you put in that part about Cortman and his thoughts/instincts; I knew, then, that Booth wouldn't (or shouldn't) lose everything: that he'd still protect Bones if he were infected.

Anyway: thank you for an enjoyable read! :)

Amazingly well written. Granted the plot was pretty linear, except for a few of your own twists, but that's because I saw the movie. Regardless. I'm very very impressed.

Dramatic start leading to a VERY effective story; congratulations on such a fine piece of work.

From the moment when you began to explore Booth’s old issues about doing the right thing versus obeying orders, this story demonstrated an exceptional grasp of intriguingly captivating issues, ranging from Brennan’s thoughts that Booth’s dedication to protecting her is the one thing that she CAN count on in a world where nothing makes sense to Booth’s inner conflict when faced with a choice between his duty to his country and his duty to Bones…

And, as always, no matter what else he faces, his duty to Bones prevails; if he lets her die, for ANY reason, Special Agent Seeley Booth might as well be sacrificing everything that makes him who he is.

As for your reasoning about what CAUSED the current crisis...

Tragic, to say the least; a mass pandemic caused by something that was meant to CURE one of humanity’s worst killers, only to trigger an even worse one originating from a person whose only crime is wanting to prevent others from going through the pain that she herself experienced as a child.

On a more personal note, your take on Cortman made for a very interesting touch. One of the things I’ve always missed in “Bones” is the lack of a long-term enemy who could be considered an ‘evil twin’ to Booth or Brennan- someone who can do everything that makes them so good at their jobs but uses those talents for the other side-, and your version of Cortman made for a superb ‘anti-Booth’ even before he was Infected; all of Booth’s skills and none of his fundamental compassion, and everything just became worse afterwards.

Oh, and your idea about how they managed to cure the virus was particularly well-thought-out on a scientific level, to say nothing of the later revelations about how it affected the MENTALITY of the viral victims; kind of intriguing to think about how, on some level, even after mutating into something like that, some people could still retain the best elements of what they were (Which isn’t to say I’m not relieved that Brennan managed to cure Booth before we saw what HE would have been like infected, naturally; chilling- no pun intended- close call you had there, to say the least).

As for the finale...

I wouldn’t have minded a COUPLE of people they knew being dead- EVERYONE of the Jeffersonian ‘Squint Squad’ having survived the virus seems a bit implausible-, but you did write a very moving epilogue, so I’m not complaining in THAT regard, I assure you.

wow chapter 2 was made me cry...

I adore this story. It has one of the clearest voices of any of the fanfic I've read, Bones or other. The story grabbed me from the beginning. I loved your method of flashing back. Your flashbacks weren't gratuitous, and had their own arc, in addition to supporting and deepening the present day story line. And I sobbed like a baby several times toward the end - not something I usually do when reading fanfic.

I've gone back to reread this story (either sections or the whole thing) several times. Brava.

This is undoubtably the most AMAZING Bones multichapter I have ever read, and may even be the best fic of all time.

Read the first chapter yesterday and was totally hooked. And now, 33 chapters later, I am speechless (although obviously not wordless).

I loved the action in this fic, which I could picture in my head really well, I cried when Booth was infected and and the ENDING. I. LOVED. IT. Especially with Parker and Booth's reunion. I was grinning AND crying. Thanks for keeping them all alive!

It also bared a resemblable to The Stand by Stephen King in the whole mass disease aspect, which seems to be a favourite characteristic of mine. Anyway, if you haven't read it I recommend it, even though it's about 10 pages long :S
