Nice! This is one of those stories that could be a novel - or it could be a snippet - both are good. Personally, I like what you did. It's like the movie Jaws - letting us imagine the horror is sometimes more terrifying that showing us. Good job.

This is so sad! And I think that by underplaying it you have made it so much more effective. Instead of going into graphic detail about what happened to him, which you could have chosen to do, you left it to our own imaginations and focused on this moment with Juliet, keeping it at the heart of the story. It works really well. You use language so efficiently here to convey so much.
