Overall a good story but I didn't care for the whole stroke angle. It felt like you didn't want to have to bother writing Tony as a competent leader so went for the easy out.

I absolutely loved this story, especially Tonys heart wrenching question of why did he allow himself to be abused like that. I think it hit the nail on the head and I loved it

I just read my previous post and can see a potential for misunderstanding...
I'm, emphatically, not stating that the victim is at fault!
What I'm trying to say, badly I guess, is that the abusers/predators 'profile' (?) their potential victims.
I remember being verbally tested by someone who later proved to be looking for his next victim.
He said things to see how far I'd let him go before calling him out on his behavior.
Once I verbally kicked him in his teeth, he moved on leaving me alone.
I think the those used to being abused have a difficult time of knowing what is acceptable behavior (having no frame of reference, perhaps) or saying to others they won't accept such behavior...

I've enjoyed this story immensely and though I usually don't read AN's as often as I should, I agree with most of what you've posted.

I don't remember where I've heard this explanation (?), but it has been told to me that those with abusive histories (particularly kids) are somehow able to be found by those who are the abusers later in life.
I don't know if it's their personalities or how they present themselves to others and potential predators, but it does seem to be somewhat valid, in parts.

It's been 5 years since this was posted as complete, but I had to toss my 2 cents in.

P.S. I particularly enjoyed the slap-down of Vance in the end, mostly due to many of the stories I've read, have allowed him to escape any real consequences.

This is a fabulous fic. I am so happy that Tony has recovered and adjusted well. I am glad he has the right support that he needs with Morrow and the rehab groups. I appreciate your note pointing out that Tony needed to forget the NCIS team to truly not go back and forgive them. I agree. It also puts a fine point on the attitude adjustment that they wanted. I am glad that Gibbs is at least a little cognizant of how badly he screwed up with Tony. I didn't realize that the whole team was subverting him even Abby. I wish them the best for figuring themselves out before they hurt everyone. Thank you so much for writing. I will never watch NCIS the same way again. I'm off to read your other fics. Do you write any where the team is strong? I want to know if I was just blind before or if I'm being swayed by the fic. Because at this point I'm thinking there's no way this behavior is okay but before I didn't realize how bad it was.

Oh my gosh! I want someone to punch Gibbs for all that mind game bs. That is horrible. Thanks for the wake up call. I hope that Gibbs apologizes and that Tony never returns to the team. Thank you for writing. This is amazing.

Wow! Just wow! I love it and it makes me rethink NCIS entirely. I am floor and flabbergasted and just so happy that someone laid it all out and told Gibbs just how cruel he actually is. It make me sad how long Tony was actually on the team with treatment like this.

I literally just had a work training on preventing harassment and discrimination in the workplace and Gibbs' actions are so abhorrent to me. This is definitely bullying and a hostile work environment. Oh my gosh! Why is this allowed?! I love this show. I've only watched reruns in years but I enjoyed it and they all seemed to be a good team. Thank you for writing and pointing out the abuse in these situations.

I just finished this remarkable story, the first thing of yours that I have read, and I am looking forward to reading more.
I know the story has been finished for quite some time, but I would also like to make a comment on your author notes.
I'm sorry that some people seem to feel that they have the right to tell you what to write and when to write it. This is an unfortunate thing that happens when someone is brave enough to put their talent out for the world to see.
PLEASE! Don't let these people pull you down. You have talent, and your story is your story. It is your vision and you should tell it the way you want.
